Maiden's Tears

The large lakes sitting in the heart of Northern woods were known as Crystal lakes in the past era. Now the nickname Maiden's tears took hold and is linked to the bloodiest battle of the War of Monsters which took place in all the surrounding areas of lakes. After the battle the amount of corpses piled high as trees in some places, but there was just not enough manpower to bury all or even just a portion. Mass graves were dug but many bodies ended up in the lakes, which gradually gained the dark tinge they are known for today the smell of rott can still be felt for miles. Shores are scattered with old bones and rusty metal. The once heart of the Elvish empire and the water reservoir of the forrest was transformed into stinking pile of garbage.

Geography

First of five lakes is found a day trip north-east from the Zel-tar and is nicknamed the elvish lake for the remnants of elvish villages on it's south-western bank. It's the second largest lake of the maiden's tears. Two more sister-lakes are in close proximity to the elvish lake with few ponds in between. The middle lake is almost perfectly round and it is believed to be a remnant of an ancient geyser. One more lake sits in eastnorth of this former geyser, which is called the Long Lake as it is not as wide as it si long and stretches for few miles in length but only about three hundred meters in width. Last of the five is the Lake of Many which consists of more than twelve smaller lakes sometimes separated with dikes. The lake is surrounded by a marsh and the terrain is treacherous at best. It's around this lake most ogres can be located sleeping in small pools or under a blanket of leaves and grass.

Fauna & Flora

While water nymphs are rarely sighted in the vicinity of the lake pleading travelers for help with the decay of their lake. They plead and cry so many a men took pity on them. While nothing can survive inside the lake, the surrounding is an ogre nesting grounds. These beasts are very dangerous and somewhat cunning. They use water nymphs as bait for unsuspecting adventurers.
