  Small equine creatures closely related to horses, donkeys make up for their smaller size with their versatility and personality. Sometimes called "jackass" donkeys are too small for riding for most species, donkeys instead are commonly used as pack animals as their strong backs and sure-footedness ensure they can be relied on the carry goods for both short and long distances with minimal upkeep needs.
