R - Acromantula Spitter
"The bite on my arm looks worse. It's pussing and yellow, and the skin around the wound is either bright red or a sickly shade of whitened yellow. The smell has only gotten worse, but the strangest thing is that the pain has stopped almost completely. Kyiv says it's because of the salve he put on it, but I know better: I can't move it. The arm is dead and I too will likely be dead."One of the most ubiquitous sub-species of Giant Spiders, the Arcomantula is an impressive arachnid creature roughly the size of a large dog. Less patient than most arachnids, the Arcomantula of Alwaus tend to take a more active role in hunting their prey. While they are still known to place traps for their prey in large translucent webbing - the bane spiders have been known to chase down their more elusive prey, especially if they're escaped or damaged their webbed nests in their hurry to leave.
Only adding to the creatures horrifying reputation, the spitting variant is able to produce a think acidic mucus from their fanged mouths - and spit it with a worrying level of precision and velocity. The venom, which more commonly is simply injected from the fangs, conveniently allows the arachnid to begin the digestion process before closing into striking range. Once struck by the venom it is very difficult to remove and has been known to burn away entire patches of skin on most humanoid species.

General Behaviors
Patient hunters and solo creatures, acromantula rarely interact outside of the hunting territory they settle in. In the event that two of the species intrude on each other, they typically either mate if compatible - or fight to the death for the hunting grounds. Once the hunting ground has been established the spider will reside in it's nest for the entirety of its life - save only when it leaves to find a female nest.
Combat Behaviors
Usually content to let small creatures stumble their way into its nest, the Acromantula will then incapacitate the creature with its wedding from a short distance away before either spitting acidic from a distance or striking immediately to sink its teeth into it's prey. The spider will then consume the blood then the flesh of the creature before disposing of its skeleton nearby. Should the creature escape the acromantula's web before being incapacitated the spider will normally give chase (unless it has recently eaten or spots easier prey). While not particularly fast, the creatures have excellent night vision and their eight legs allow them to navigate the difficult terrain that their prey is likely tripping over in the night. When there are multiple target to choose from, the acromantula will attempt to use its webbing to contain as many live victims as it can before bringing them back to it's web for consumption over the next few weeks.
