Pyromancer Ignatious pre Virtutem

The Bane of Maghetto

Pyromancer Ignatious pre Virtutem (a.k.a. "Iggy")

A young Alvain arcanist covered in head to toe in state of the art armour, Ignatious seeks to make his name through any means necessary. While lacking the raw cleverness that allowed his peers to excel in politics, Ignatious neverless learned to weaponize his sheer will into a means to destroy his opponents. Ignatious sees himself as the raw embodiment of fire and flame. While others may use cunning and guile to get their way, Ignatious simply burns his obstacles to the ground and lets the ashes sort themselves out afterwards.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Even those close to Ignatious rarely see the Alvain outside of his signature Pyromancer armour. The arcanite powered suit covers him from head to toe, and often leaves him towering in height above his peers. A heavy mask, complete with a state of the art respirators covers his face - ensuring his combat abilities remain unbothered by the smoke and flames he commands.

Under his armour however, Ignatious is shockingly slender, even by Alvain standards (likely a result of his protensity of extreme magical practices). Anemic in build, his pale skin and wispy hair are a symbol of his disdain for the vanity and aesthetic obsessed culture that permeates Alvantes. To many, (Ignatious himself perhaps) it is his Pyromancer's mask that holds the true identity of Ignatious pre Virtutem.

Identifying Characteristics

The pyromancer's armour that Ignatious returned to Alvantes wearing has quickly become an iconic part of his identiy. Towering above even other Alvain, the suit's reinforced plating and arcane enchantments set him apart from even the armoured vangaurds of Century.

Special abilities

While he struggles with many of the more complicated arcane spells, Ignatious excels in the destructive power of pyromancy - with even the most basic of his offensive spells igniting the very air around him.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

While some Alvain take quickly to the challenges of the "Great Game" of Alvian Politics, the majority of them do not - and instead find meaning in other aspects of life in Alwaus. Ignatious is one such example. Never a studious youth, a cunning debator, or even skilled duelist Ignatious seemed destined ill fitted for service in the courts of Alvantes, or the Vanguards of Century - and would likely follow many of his peers into the life of privilege and leisure that distracts all but the most disciplined or curious of Alvain students.
But what Ignatious lacked in raw intellegence or cunning, he made up for in sheer discipline and determination. Ignatious is no fool, and as such he was aware of the dissapointment and lower expectations that followed him throughout most of his life. Time and time again, his mentors would expect him to disband his education, or fall further and further behind his peers that he would be forced to withdrawal. But this never happened, and Ignatious continued to crawl, scratch, and brawl his way through some of the most prestigious and difficult educational programs in Alvantes. Despite all expectation, Ignatious completed the program - and quickly set to make a name for himself in Alvain society.

Ignatious spent the next several years in pursuit of priviate ventures, never making public apperances or making formal requests with Alvain society. Over time, like most things, Ignatious was forgotten as the the attentions of his peers were turned instead to whatever the next piece of ideal gossip provoked them. Little is known of Ingatious whereabouts during these years, however when he returned to Alvantes he quickly began forging a reputation for himself as a harsh disciplinarian and unforgiving agent. While never charming or persuasive, Ignatious was able to forge powerful relationships with high ranking members of Alvain society, and quickly made a declaration of support for the Virtutem Dynasty.

Ignatious reputation for tenacity and ruthlessness only grew with the onset of Human's rebellion. During the campaigns Ignatious was instrumental in several mission deemed of high importance by the Assembly, some of which's records sitll remain sealed to this day.

Without a doubt however, Ignatious is best known for the arson of the Kaldari city of Maghetto. When the Traitor King's wife and heir fled to the northern city at the end of the war, it was Ignatious who was tasked with recovering the routed queen and her child. When the officals of Maghetto refused to hang the young prince over, Ignatious unleashed the full might of pyromancy on the city. The city burned for six days, and hundreds of thousands of humans perished in the flames, including the queen and her child.

While initally the Assembly publically vocalized their displeasure with Ignatious' actions at Maghetto, they qucikly changed their position on the pyromancer with the ascention of The Empress. Since then Ignatious enjoys a position of power and respect in Alvain society, and his name still invokes fear and rage throughout most of Kaldaria.

Education

Ignatious was raised in a pretigous educational collective, where the children of powerful and influential Alvain place their children to ensure them the most advantage once they have reached maturity. While he initially strugged to grasp to complexity and nuance of subjects like Alvain Politics and Arcane Spellcasting, Ignatious would not be discouraged, and completed his education through sheer willpower and determination.

Following his graduation, Ignatious spent several years researching and discovering the forgotten secrets of the Pyromancers. Ingatious found the lessons and teachings of pyromancy to be intuitive in a way that traditional arcane techniques never were, and he has since begun taking on pupils of his own - effectively reviving the long dead order.

  • Mental Trauma

Years of childhood harassment and trauma have left Ignatious with little in the way of patience and kindeness. Savvies & Ineptitudes

Ignatious' childhood mentors were highly critical of his academic performance. He quickly began to struggle with arcane spellwork, and even publicly embarrassed himself with his ill advised attempts at arcane enchantment. Even throughout his career as a Pyromancer, Ignatious has shown an inability to grasp the complexity of Alvain politics, frequently finding himself politically out maneuvered by less powerful or prestigious opponents.

Ignatious sets himself apart form his peers with his tenacity and determination. He refuses to be deterred by failure, despite reacting violently to potential setbacks. While some using cunning or charm to get their way, Ignatious simply burns all from his path.
