  As much art as a weapon, the secret techniques required to fold steel into the form of the infamous katana is known only to the Janissary ethnic group of humans located in South-West Alwaus. Each weapon is painstakingly crafted by artisan weaponsmiths, so katanas are rarely exported from the island chain of Greater and Lessor Janissary. Infamous for their ability to hold an edge, the weapons in truth rarely live up to their fearsome reputation - however they remain a popular item for collectors both within and without Greater and Lessor Janissary.   A significantly larger sword than the standard katana, the Odachi is an awkward fit into the calm patience and grace that warriors of Greater and Lessor Janissary are compelled to follow. Forgoing the delicate accuracy of the typical katana, the Odachi is perhaps more similair to the greatswords weilded by the knights of Old Astoria with it's focus on powerful strikes that tear an opponent's defenses down with each shattering blow - a strategy that many [Janissary are reluctant to admit the success of (despite the sword's popularity)
