M - Feral Hound

  "Whether they are the mixed-breed descendants from abandoned pets, or the last remnants of truly untamed canines - at the end of the day they are still dogs. Their bark is worse than their bite and they will normally be satisfied with whatever scraps from your last meal you care to throw over the back of your wagon."
  These hounds, while similar in appearance to "humanity's best friend" are one of the most common terrors along the main roads of the [The Thirteen Kingdoms. Often travelling in small packs of 3-5, larger groups have been noted in the past and have warranted groups of villagers to take up bow and blunderbuss to drive them back off the main paths.

  Normally targeting small livestock or their domesticated cousins, they've been known to drag off small children or even the elderly when they've grown brazen or hungry enough. They've developed a reputation of being a form of "soft banditry" along the main roads at least, snarling and nipping at grown travelers in an attempt to have them throw a ration to distract or dissuade them from harrasment.
