Frostmoss

A resilient and uncommon form of moss that grows neat geothermal fissures or area of high volcanic activity, Frostmoss relies on a form of Calorsynthesis that leaves its twisting bracken leaves cold to the touch, as opposed to the photosynthesis that the vast majority of flora in Alwaus derives its primary energy from. Feeding on the consistent and powerful thermal energy released from these areas, Frostmoss is often found flourishing in areas where other plant life has no chance of survival. So effective is the heat absorption properties of Frostmoss that it can be used to regulate the temperature of small rooms or containers in large enough qualities. Efforts to cultivate the moss have been largely unsuccessful, and its appearance in the wild is rare enough to prevent wide-spread usage for refrigeration.
