Case File: William "Whaddaya" Buyin' of Oceania

Case File: William "Whaddaya" Buyin' of Oceania
-Approximate Date and Time of Death: May 27th, 3168 EB at ~11:30 a.m. -Coroner's Report: Human male, 41 years of age... All that was left of this body was dust, as a powerful being used a strange spell on the victim, destroying every cell in their body, reducing it to ash... Speaking only a single word, the assailant managed to remove this person from existence in an instant, even at near full strength...
:indent:Life isn't easy and it sure as hell isn't fair. This is a lesson that William Buyin of Oceania learned at a young age. Hailing from Daggerveil originally, William found peace and comfort in the town of Oceania, calling it his home instead. While a child in Daggerveil, he was born into a lower class family... His father, James, and mother, Emilia, did what they could to provide for their 4 children, but had a tough time putting food on the table... William wasn't very close to his 2 brothers, but he was incredibly close and protective of his little sister, Viola. She was his only friend in the unforgiving world, and things would soon change forever for young William as James, the patriarch of the Buyin' family, would get so desperate for money to provide for his family, that he would take out a loan from a group of men known only as the Clan of Chaos.
:indent:The issue with borrowing money from the Clan of Chaos, is that they rig the system, increasing interest so there is no way anyone can pay them back, allowing them to take whatever you had listed as collateral, if things didn't turn violent that is... When they came to collect, the family of course didn't have it, so the leader of the Clan started beating the father in front of the entire family. When James attempted to fight back, it ended with deadly consequences. :indent: :indent:With no remorse, they butchered his family right in front of William. While his family attempted to defend themselves he hid and was able to survive the encounter. William witnessed his whole family brutally beaten and slaughtered in front of him... This young child, forever traumatized... Worst of all, the one person he cared for most in the world... His sister, Viola... He saw get brutalized just mere feet away while he hid... Instead of standing and fighting to defend her, and most likely dying to protect her, he hid like a coward... His first regret of many...
:indent:From that moment on, William was forced to fend for himself on the streets. Attempting to pickpocket anyone so that he could feed himself that night... He did this for a long time... Living alone, forced to suffer in silence... Until one day, he pickpocketed someone he shouldn't have... He had some mishaps with the law, but nothing could ever be worse than what he experienced already. That person he attempted to steal from just so happened to be a member of the Thieves Guild and his soon-to-be mentor Ludwig Guernier of Lorelantern.
:indent:He was taken in by Ludwig and was taught the proper rules and skills of a trained thief. He honed his skills over time, building up strength and speed to take revenge on those who slaughtered his family. After years of searching, he finally found them, the Clan of Chaos, and using his resources at the Thieves Guild, wiped them from existence in a bloody battle, which was published as a clan war, but really was a brutal revenge by William and his mentor, Ludwig. Ludwig didn't love the thought of killing people if he didn't have to, but he saw William as a son, and knew what this meant to him. This was a momentous task for William, being only an 18 year old at that time, but he managed to slaughter the entire Clan singlehandedly... :indent: :indent:William loved the rush and satisfaction of slaughtering his enemies, coating himself in the blood of those who took his life away. After his successful revenge, he took up odd jobs for the Guild, with Ludwig as his guide. But when his mentor died, he decided to take time away from his new home and become a merchant, buying and selling to get by. He enjoyed it, not as much as thieving, but it was definitely more legal. He luckily had all his criminal records wiped thanks to Ludwig and the Thieves Guild Leader, Keaton Woodward of Daggerveil, who he became close friends with.
:indent:A few years later, when William was 21, during his times of traveling, exploring, and buying and selling, he met a beautiful lass named Eleanor Solphia of Sapphiria. Her beauty was by far the greatest he had ever seen. In a lot of ways, she was like his mother, whom he looked up to in many aspects. Usually being a very charismatic fellow, he was shockingly at a loss for words, star-struck at the magnificent human before him. Luckily, she found him very cute and goofy, and they hit it off immediately. He poured his heart and soul into this relationship, even telling her about his childhood and the moment his life changed. She loved him for who he was, no matter what. :indent::indent: :indent:After 2 years of being together, getting married and being totally in love, they have a daughter, who they name Viola, after his sister he loved dearly. Eleanor was his everything, and as soon as Viola was born, his whole life changed for the better. She was born on June 10th, 3151 EM, and was born into a family of two loving parents. He didn't know what it was to be truly happy until he met Eleanor. Holding his daughter in his hand was truly the peak of his existence, almost as if everything he had been through and everything he had seen just melted away. Everything was amazing, William and his loving wife now had a beautiful baby girl, who they loved more than life itself. :indent: :indent:Continuing being a merchant to support his new family, he met a lot of new people, powerful people, who would later become a prime target for William. After 10 years of trading and selling, his daughter who just turned 12, was honored by her parents by having a special party with all of her friends. Little did he know that at this party, his life was about to change drastically, just as it did as a child. Holding his wife and his child, William had a blast at the party, until, that is, a large group of armed men, approximately 35 soldiers were blocking the entrances of the building. Not aware of the men, William kept the festivities going, until the men got orders to charge in and start murdering all the children and parents at the party. He immediately hid his wife and daughter, told them to keep quiet and that he loved them no matter what, and leapt into action, recalling how he ran and hid as a child, and was determined to protect his new family, at any cost. With swiftness and precision, he took out the men as they were focused on the other people at the party. But soon, he would be overwhelmed as more soldiers came in, flooding the building. Chock full of rage, he slaughtered them, protecting his family, when suddenly he got shot with an arrow in the leg, pinning him to the ground. He didn't give up, still killing as he could, until the men were able to hold him and pin him down. He screamed to his wife and daughter to not come out, when suddenly someone he was very familiar with, a man by the name of Lautrec Tennenbaum, a chairman of the Presidium, an exclusive, heavily guarded oasis for political figures of the highest government in all of Emeraldia, whom he had been acquainted with on his travels, him being a very frequent buyer of goods. Shocked to see his client, he was beaten and cut, causing a scar to form over his left eye, and was swiftly incapacitated by his new foe. :indent: :indent:When he awoke, he was still at the party, now bloodied and massacred. Bodies strewn everywhere of children and parents alike. William ran to where he hid his family, and they were not there. He looked all around, looking at the bodies hoping to every deity that none of them were his wife and child. Coming across two slumped bodies in the corner, each holding each other for dear life, he fell to his knees and cried, his wife, Eleanor, and his daughter, Viola, lay dead, with the look of fear forever in their eyes, and blood dripping from their wounds. He screams and promises revenge yet again, as everything he ever loved was taken from him for a second time. For seemingly no reason, everything he had was stripped away from him in a flash, yet again.
:indent:He was found clutching his wife and child by the authorities and was sentenced to jail time. The authorities discounted William's claims of slaughter by Lautrec, I mean, who would believe a seemingly lunatic man ranting about a high government official slaughtering a bunch of innocent men, women, and children. After months of being locked away for a crime he had no part of, his good friend and leader of the Thieves Guild, Keaton Woodward, came to his aid and broke him out of prison. Unfortunately, no amount of bribing could wipe his new bounty, and now, with the immense grief he carries, William has to go back to being a thief and a killer. His only goal in life was to get revenge, as it was before he met Eleanor. :indent: :indent:Once he murdered Tennenbaum and made him suffer, would he finally be able to let go and be with his family once again. With more and more practice and training, he had become an unstoppable killing machine, with a merchanting gig on the side. Now it is time for him to find Lautrec and end him. Unfortunately that will not be easy, as the Presidium is by far the most secured location in the entire world, located in Emeraldia. Only with people he can trust, can he pull it off. So now he waits, plotting in silence, scoping around as a merchant and using his resources to try to find a way to Tennenbaum.
:indent:His daggers of cold steel, engraved with his wife and daughter's names, his wedding ring, and his locket, made by his wife with their names and pictures in them, are the items he cherished the most, as it was all he had left of them. And whenever he was dealing with an incredibly stressful situation, he used what used to be Eleanor's perfume on his concealing face mask to calm down, as she was his everything. :indent: :indent:Many other things have happened in William's life... Too much to list here... Like meeting Esmeralda, and having her become the Godmother to Viola... Esmeralda Aratois, being like family to him, was the only person left after everything was all over... But he still managed to isolate himself, drinking his pain away in the Ugly Badger in Dawnbury where our party found him after the Battle of Oceania... There, they actually convinced him to join them, well, actually Happy Toods convinced him to join them, as they actually share a lot in common. They got along pretty well and William decided to help them on the suicide mission of slaying Yharm, but only if Lautrec was one of the causalities of the war, which Happy agreed.
:indent:William recognized that this group was odd and potentially dangerous, so he kept Esmeralda, his only family left, at arms length at all times when dealing with the group, because he knew he couldn't lose her... When it came down to it, when Aver Age was being corrupted and Darvaaq was causing destruction, William made the ultimate sacrifice to save Esmeralda... Dropping her and pushing her to the side so that Darvaaq's spell "Power Word Kill" would hit him... It did and it caused him to turn to dust right in front of Esmeralda and the party, dying... But he died a hero... :indent: :indent:Sources indicate that William Buyin' and his soul is unable to be located in Terra Terrorium... Yharm already has his eternal torture lined up, as she has already dealt with his entire family and has been eager to play with him... When located, he will be placed in Ad Terram Condemnabitur. There, he will be forced to watch all of his loved ones be brutalized while he can do nothing but stand and watch... Truly the worst fate for an empathetic and caring man such as William... This Would Be the Fate of William "Whaddaya" Buyin' Once Yharm Locates Him... Perhaps while we wait for an update on the "Man in the Purple Hood", check out the World Anvil link!
