Goeyemedes
An old man by the time the Psygonauts escape the Hellecian Sector and lands on Magna-Tynesca just outside of the Pontic shell.
Goeyemedes is a respected engineer on the level of his legendary colleague Dactylon, forced to flee the Hellecian Sector for trying to teach his community how to defend themselves against laws that exploited them.
At this point, Goeyemedes is the only Hellecian to have ever escaped the Pontic Kochyli shell encircling the Hellecian Sector. And the Psygonauts need his help to get back inside.
Origins:
Born and raised on Thessalis-Prime, Goeyemedes is the last of a generation that lived under the boot of the Pantheon. And after Hephaestus' automatons killed his parents and maimed their progenitor Aeonia, Goeyemedes would be instrumental in their destruction.
Goeyemedes would learn how to construct tri-decks at the feet of Dactylon on the heels of losing his son Syracilus the Eldest. And after showing his aptitude for engineering and even solving issues such as cabling tension buildup and inefficient COAG fuel injection system. Dactylon took Goeyemedes under his wing as his apprentice and his replacement son.
By the eve of the invasion of Karoj-Menos, Goeyemedes and Dactylon were on nearly equal footing as colleagues. While Dactylon is created as creating the first tri-deck, Goeyemedes perfected its design.
Crediting inventions such as the Fulcrum multi-tool vital for ship building, the Goeyemeian Screw for the COAG fuel injection system incorporated in all modern tri-decks, designing COAG Oar Shafts to vent fuel waste into space while using byproduct to power its multi-axis propulsion/self-defense grid & even improving on the Hephaetian automatons into the crews of bronze men like Dukxix to maintain these systems.
While Dactylon was proud of his surrogate son. Jealous began to build towards his former pupil after discovering concepts for what would become the first version of Delots.
Following the destruction of Karoj-Menos, Goeyemedes was instrumental in the reconstruction efforts for his homeworld of Thessalis-Prime. However, the credit was stolen by Dactylon when the Thessalinokki government congratulated the inventor on his new Delot workforce and agreed to the construction of the joint-effort shipwright facility between the Aeonites and the Archaenids.
Voicing his arguments against this facility's long-term implications, Goeyemedes was ultimately ignored (since most of Goeyemedes' accomplishments were in service to the legendary inventor's vision).
The Slums of "North Cracked":
While Goeyemedes enjoyed a well-paid position as the chief engineer of shipwright operations at this city-sized factory. That all changed when most of the organic labor was taken over by the encroaching Delot laborers. Instituting the inflexible codes of the DTOS on all employees, Goeyemedes voiced his concerns on deaf ears. And after months of non-compliant behavior, the famous engineers was fired and replaced by another Delot.
Witnessing the living conditions becoming less bearable in organic slums surrounding the massive complex his fellow Aeonites and Archaenids once worked, Goeyemedes' neighborhood became known as "North Cracked."
While he lived in moderately comfortable conditions, crime and abject poverty rose steadily through the organic populous. While the lines going to the unemployment office became longer and the government was losing more money supporting families unable to find work.
What made matters worse, law-abiding citizens were being arrested by Delot peace-keepers for breaking the DTOS for defending themselves against muggers by using their fulcrums as weapons.
Seeing a rising need in his community for out-of-work fulcrum workers and after finding several loopholes in the DTOS' laws on assault and battery with a weapon, Goeyemedes founded the Union for Fulcrum Trainers.
While Delots took over jobs such as cable-tightening on a tri-deck's armor plating suspension system, many of the standard Delot models didn't possess the functionality or torque to wind these cables with their built-in winch.
So Goeyemedes signed a contract with shipwright management that he would send fully-licensed Fulcrum Trainers to train/supervise their Delots to use external fulcrums and, if needed, assist in cable tightening.
As a result, Goeyemedes was able to get fellow Aeonites and Archaenids work. And also to teach them self-defense.
While the laws state that assault with a weapon is a serious offense. The DTOS only defines a deadly weapon as a blunt object swung using a criminal's forearm. So Goeyemedes instructed his "trainers" how to defend themselves using his family's martial arts style employing a reverse grip quarterstaff.
And it worked. Fully-licensed Fulcrum trainers pumped money back into North Cracked while being able to defend themselves without fear of disappearing into the Delot prison system. This system eventually spread to different parts of Thessalis-Prime. To the point, new chapters sprung up and the underclass had a new champion in Goeyemedes the Fulcrum.
The Lanaxdrian Revolt:
However, this prosperity changed around the time of the Festival of Shattered Gold. While the Lacdrians (also known as Dodrians) were allowed to host the festival even though Thessalis-Prime was implicitly run by the Delothian Collective now.
Many anti-Delot factions arose all over Thessalis-Prime, threatening to dismantle "The Circle": the highly-advanced transit system between shipwright facilities planet side if living conditions aren't improved and Aeonite autonomy isn't reasserted over their ancestral home.
These factions saw the festival as an opportunity to showcase their plight to the rest of the Hellecian Sector. While Delot Peace Keepers monitored Goeyemedes, seeing a correlation between his world-wide organization of Fulcrum Trainers and the rise discontent throughout Thessalis-Prime.
However, Goeyemdes refused any involvement with these movements and asserted the Union is a professional guild with no political ties to anyone else besides the Collective. In fact, he pushed for peace within North Cracked and to not undue all the progress they made under Delot supervision. Coining the phrase: "Do not disturb The Circle!"
And for a while, their suspicions died down and public sentiments cooled down.
This all changed when his son Kurashino, along with several of his friends in the Union and radical faction members staged the kidnaping of Lanaxdrite (the Lacdrian princess chose to play Hellestine for the festival).
Following the accidental death of the princess, the implication of Union members & the disappearance of his son's body, Goeyemedes was forced to flee Thessalis-Prime during the confusion.
After which, Thessalis-Prime becomes an official Delot planet, dissolves the Union, fully enslaves the organic population, and rewrites Goeyemedes' contributions to the sector as the founder of the vicious assassin group known as the Fulcrum Blade-Masters of Thessalis-Prime.
Far from Home:
Assuming he died in the chaos of the Lanaxdrian Revolt, the Psygonauts discover his existence outside the Pontic Shell in the distant cluster of the Tyrenacruz Triangle after their miraculous escape from the Colcion Confederacy and the main players of the Taygestronesian Civil War.
Isolated from his home sector with other outcasts from the Hellecian sector, Goeyemedes is a leader of a bi-cameral party system led by The Builders (compared to their opponent: The Numbers), Goeyemedes is refuses to teach them how to re-enter the Hellecian Sector (especially with Dactylon's offspring in their party).
The elderly engineer is convinced to return when Dylos tells him his son's been hunting them as the head of the Fulcrum Blade-Masters. However, his only condition is that Syracilus must wear an inhibitor collar to disable his instruments and be locked in a lead box during the procedure.
However, the Psygonauts barely manage to escape in one piece as the Balragost (Bal-Pumerian-supported tyrants) leads a coup e'tat and seizes power from both The Numerists and The Builders under the pretext of treason and conspiracy.
Escaping with a number of Builder-supports and Numerist-opponents , Goeyemedes leaves the cluster the same way he left Thessalis-Prime: in the hands of power-hungry tyrants.
Aboard the Psygorellius:
While being a later addition to the Psygonauts, Goeyemedes offers his years of experience as an engineer and shipwright (improving several systems on the Psygorellius). He's also a skilled martial artist, using his fulcrum for self-defense and disarming opponents rather than killing them.
His primary purpose of returning to the sector is to find his son and dismantle the organization he unintentionally helped to create. Attempting to convince his son to end their family's cycle of revenge. To symbolically release the fulcrum tension by severing the cable altogether.
Will Kurashino listen to his father's advice or continue twisting the cable tighter by murdering more families?
