Rowling, Colby

Colby is the fourth child out of nine to Walter and Jasmine Rowling.   He grew up among the clan that his the extended family of the Rowling Ranch, with cousin, and Uncles and Aunts not only working the ranch, but also helping raise him and his sibling, just as his parents help with the others.   In the Rowling family, you are a Rowling, not part of a subset of the Rowling.   At a young age, two things became apparent about Colby. He was strong, and he was quiet. Him being quiet was the more surprising of the two as the nicest way to describe a Rowling is as a chatter box.   Growing up working the ranch, Colby’s strength was an asset and it gave him plenty of chances to push himself, to the point where at eighteen, he can lift two thousand pounds and the most difficult part of it is making sure he grabs it properly so it won’t break while he’s holding it.   His toughness appeared gradually enough it wasn’t noticed until he was thirteen when a bull got loose and he stepped in to stop it. The bull hit him head on, horn at his chest, and sent Colby flying. He got up, and the next time the bull came at him he slammed a fist on its head before the horns touched him. He was left with scratches, which healed over the next few hours.   Like all Rowling, Colby is a gun owner, having received his first firearm at four and fired it for the first time, as fas as his parents know, three months later. At fourteen, Colby received a S&W .48 DH semi automatic handgun, at the time, the largest handgun made, from his uncle Harry. Colby fell in love with the firearm, named it Magnum, and hasn’t let it out of his sight since.   Colby doesn’t think of himself as someone heroic. He has the strength and toughness, so when needed he will step in. That it be to lift something heavy, bring a rambunctious animal under control, or step in front of a group of supers trying to rob the local ranchers during a meeting to arrange an auction.   That incident made the news, and reached the recruitment department of the Harker Academy’s Super-heroic Curriculum. They reached out to Colby, by way of his father, who accepted for him, before informing his son he was going to college out of state.
