Character's past

Tracy Harker was born on April 16th, 1953, to an Irish father and Jewish mother.   Tracy’s knack for finding lost and misplaces items manifested itself at a young age and the ability became more potent as he grew up; which fed his interest in finding things, which lead him to the field of archeology. He quickly gained something of a reputation as a good luck charm. Every team he worked on while learning found something of mark.   The one downside was that while they sought him, he got no recognition for his part in the discovery, which led him to strike out on his own the moment he became a full-fledged archeologist. Within a decade he discovered over a dozen sites, three of which were reputed to be myths until then.   On the heel of those discoveries came accusations he was a super of some sort. The most common claim is that he has Psychometry, and therefore he cheats and should be stripped of his discoveries. Fortunately for Tracy, by then he had enough of a reputation and wealth to weather the accusations, but they were the start of his dislike for dealing with academics.   While ‘official’ funding ceased not long after the claims were made, he received enough requests from private collectors to keep him busy well into the eighties, when there was a crackdown on archeologist taking their finds out of the country of origin.   When the lawsuits landed on Tracy’s doorsteps, he didn’t fight them. He pled guilty and arranged to return the artifacts to their rightful owners. Those happened through negotiations, leveraging his reputations among archeologists, and if it came down to it, using more nebulous means. After this time, Tracy only worked for governments and institutions of a country, and within that country.   In the mid-nineties, on an Iranian dig, looking for religious artifacts at the request of a religious leader, bandits attacked the site and killed most of the people there, and left the rest to die. Desperate to survive, Tracy search for something to help him, and his power led him to a second artifact hidden within the tomb. On taking it, all his injuries healed, and the artifact crumpled into dust. He hurried to help the injured.   Years later, he would come to realize the artifact also slowed his aging.   Once the survivors were safe, Tracy set out to find the bandit and a way to bring them to justice for the death they caused. When he found them, he also discovered the US military paid them. He let the local authorities know about them and where they’d find the evidence and went after the military.   The operation turned out to be the work of only one unit, using their position in the country to acquire and sell valuable artifacts on the black market. He found the evidence of their crimes, including paying the bandits to kill everyone at the site and handed that over to the military police.   After that incident, Tracy Harker officially retired from working in the field, citing the stress of the near-death experience. He has continued giving lectures on the subject, although his ability to find sites thought not to have existed give him something of an eccentric point of view on the subject that meant he received fewer and fewer invitations to speak.   Tracy did not mind.   Five years after Tracy retired, a new hero appeared. While with no overt powers, he’s only shown exceptional ability in hand-to-hand combat, and with a multitude of weapons, he had brought down supers previously thought to be unbeatable, such as the Mighty Wall, and Iron Giantess. He has also shown a knack for finding villains in hiding and, as a result, the media nicknamed him Tracer, and the hero adopted it.   Within the hero community, the rumors claim Tracer has some type of information-gathering power, such as computer telepathy.   As for Tracy Harker, he currently heads multiple charities aimed toward preserving and restoring historical artifacts.   When ground broke in 2024 on a new university being constructed on the outskirt of Finley, PA, Tracy Harker came forward as one of the primary backers, having put his wealth toward offering new generations good and affordable higher education. Named after him, the Harker Academy offers a variety of technical skills, from law enforcement to media science, hospitality, and agricultural research.   Tracy Harker will head and teaching at the archeology department.  

Character's personality

Tracy Harker is a man with little patience left for the idiots out there. He isn’t a hard man, but he often comes across as such because of it. It isn’t until someone demonstrates they are trying to keep up with him he is willing to give them some slack.   He is also strict about what is right and what is wrong, sometimes more so than what the laws and rules are.
