WorldEmber 2024

Week 1

 

Area of Focus

  I will try to reach 10k words this year again, at minimum. I'll be working so, I don't have a lot of time to write and I'm the type to also correct a page to be sent clean and neat on a first shot.

Since I have released the world to my friends, my main focus would be to write about things they want to know in priority. I've already asked around and I will mostly focus on characters, organizations and maybe places. I will also try to write about pages that are created and linked since it needs to be done at one point. Here is a list so far:

Meta Review

  I am not a big fan on working on the Meta yet, because I'm still thinking about it. So, I'll add stuff when I feel like it's fitting. Hopefully, it's easy enough to understand for newcomers! I'll rework it maybe after WorldEmber, or if I have some spare time.

Week 2

 

Homepage Review

  Much like the Meta, it's one of the hardest thing for me to work on. It's like putting a title on an artwork you just made. Most of the time, it's hard to only pick a restricted numbers of words to present something to the world. My main goal is for the homepage to induce curiosity to the readers. I don't know if it's the case yet, but it's one of the things I'm thinking about in general.

 

World Primer

  I am quite hesitant with the idea of a primer, since it would be something out of world. My main inspiration is the SCP-Foundation and, you have to dive into it and piece things together to understand the overall story. I would be more confident into writing something like a guideline for my own way of writing different articles. Maybe this could be my primer? I'll keep it in mind.  

Community Tools

  I've recently read about some of the Subscribers features so, I'm thinking of adding something for curious peeps to be interested in. Probably should set something up for people interested in secrets too. I've started to work on that but, it's still a work in progress.  

CSS Wizardry

  My arch-enemy. More seriously, I'm not a coder at all. I am mostly writing and doing artworks, but it's a skill I eventually want to learn. I'm slowly figuring things out but man, it's a real struggle. If any people have any advices, I'll be taking it! In the meantime, I'll work out CSS throughout the next year, little by little.

Week 3

 

Inspiration

  Like I've mentioned earlier, I'm mainly trying to write something based on SCP-Foundations but medieval fantasy style! I've watched Dungeon Meshi for inspiration, as well as Arcane. Obviously, my D&D group is my biggest inspiration for it, as well as my own notes for when I run missions.  

Moodboards

  The Guild of Misfits has a bunch of artists, so it's pretty neat to have a bunch of sketchs of characters or sceneries to grab. Though, I wish I brought more to the table this year, there is still a good selection of images and drawing to get inspired from.   For my characters, I've made a Pinterest with their look, clothes, styles. And sometimes, I do it for characters that aren't my own. It really helps to envision a character or even a place they lived in.  

Playlists

  I've made countless of playlists for specific characters and/or sceneries in the universe. Otherwise, I don't have a particular music to write. Could be classical like it could be pop. As long as it's a vibe!

Week 4

 

Community

  I am a shy bean, and World Anvil is still a bit new so I don't know a lot of communities in there yet. I wouldn't mind meeting new peeps, I just... don't really know where to look? Hopefully, people will be curious here and say hi!   I will try to join the Comment Carolers by Annie Stein this year! I'm not the type to usually comment but, I should try to do it more so, here's to something new!  

Writing schedule

  Since I have a job, I do not have a lot of time to write, so I'll try to do it in the morning or on the weekends. I do not want to force myself too much, but I still want to give my best!  

Fresh Air

  Currently, I am chilling with my family as I'm writing this. I'm going to spend the rest of the night ordering things in my head but mostly talking with my group as well. I think it will be fun!
