Everyone who had lived during this era would have been acutely aware of the detrimental and indiscriminate reach that global pandemics had. From shaking down whole economies, to radically shifting cultural standards on hygiene and interpersonal contact, by the end of the century not one facet of the human experience had remained unscathed.

Although, by that time, nearly everyone who could remember what had been lost… was gone as well.
