Yaltic
History
These weapons were developed by the Legion of Syn at the beginning of The War of the Shadows in a joint collaboration between Anlyth, First Son of Syn and Taneth The Navigator. The simplest prototypes ended up being the basis for a variety of weapons used by the armies of The Quartet. The initial research strived to combine the might of the Faeries into a single weapon that acted as a conduit to Syn's fire. However, these first attempts only focused a physical manifestation at this, and became the basis for many of the Railgun systems and orbital kinetic systems that served well as the stardard ranged weapons used during this war.
Further attempts led to more failures at the stated goal, yet furthered much needed power for the militaries to survive The Shadows constant onslaught. Resonance weapons that utilized the Songs used by the Brownies that became planet cracking warheads used from launching platforms on the Ashbringers. While these weapons also cause distortions in reality, this did inadvertently create the basis for the Wayfare Magic used in Modern times.
Finally, after many worlds had been lost to the Shadows, the two Fledgling Gods crafted the tool that would bring light to the darkness. The Yaltic is for all intents and purposes, simply a pale comparison to the Blade of Syn, yet possesses many of the same qualities. To produce these weapons en masse, the blades needed to be smaller and easily forged and created. Thus, the Yaltic took the form of a Spear. With this new weapon, the manufactories worked endlessly to provide every last Child with a tool to keep the darkness at bay.
Significance
With the creation of the Yaltics, the tide of the war seemed to turn in the favor of the Quartet. With blades that pulsed with the pure light of Syn and her divine son and legions, they proved to be devastating weapons on the battlefield. A single faery wielding one of these spears was enough to hold a front line and first wave of Spawn. These weapons capable of piercing the darkness and severing the thread of sickness in the Shadow Touched Children, often called down the wrath of the goddess of the sun. Summoning lightning and solar flares to the target the wielder wished. Yet...
Every sun must set. New weapons would not save them. New strategies would not save them. For night must follow.
