The Foxes
Public Agenda
The Foxes chief goal is to limit or eliminate the powers of the City Aristocracy. To pour the riches funneled upward back to the workers of Port De Renard. They wish to see the abolishment of the tyrannical secret police that are the Casques that are used by the local nobility to tamp down the populace movements that bubble to the surface.
They simply wish to see a release valve given to the people to allow for reforms and a true congress to be established to bring the oligarchy in line. Ultimately they want to see the Heads of the Noble houses of the City brought before the masses and answer for their abuse.
Perceived Agenda
The Foxes are well known for their constant high profile burglaries and felonies in which the rich and powerful are often targeted. Though this has not stopped them from targeting key political figures as well. Unfortunately the merchants and middle class of the city have fallen for the Casques propaganda and are believed to be an immense criminal organization that doesn't care who has the money, as long as they have it. Which has led to the Thieves Guild being a common name given to them. The Foxes earned the name themselves, what the propaganda fails to cover up at any given time is that the wealth stolen from the upper classes "inexplicably" finds it's way back into the hands of the working class. To the workers, they are known as heroes, to the powerful villians. Though, the massive rise in populace movements has been impossible to ignore when the Foxes are always there to lead them. A proverbial wolf at the gates, a fox in the hen house.History
When the Captains of industry found their foot hold in the city, they put their heel onto the necks of the workers. When the barons of industry bought our lives, and decided that we were their possessions, we opened our eyes. We saw as they gained their power through our blood, sweat and tears. While they grew fat with coin and property they turned damned the river in which we drank to claim their "right". When we died for their profit we begged our protectors to aid us, only to find their plates full of that coin we earned for the Captains of industry... hear now the howls in the night, rest peacefully no more.
The Foxes began as a worker's rights movement, that objected vehemently against the conditions of the work places. Long hours, falsified pay, unsanitary conditions, and unregulated standards across the board. A city wide strike against the Major warehouse Trinity that made up the bulk of Port De Renard's economy in the portside, led to the single largest execution of citizens the Kingdom of Galus had ever seen. The Barons that owned the companies in question had grown sick of the strike and attempted to command the workers back into the warehouses and shipping lanes, only to loose their patience.
The Barons had hired legions of goons to open fire on the defenseless crowds in an attempted show of force. Only to have their arrogance ignite a full blown riot that required Legions of Galcian Soldiers commanded by the King to break. Though, this wasn't until after the Barons were brought before the people and publicly executed by the people. Reform was demanded of the remaining Aristocracy, only to be met with more force to try and bring the workers back in line.
Lucas Berthelot, the newly crowned King of Galus was disgusted with both sides of this conflict, though leaned toward the workers on the issue. He reminded the ruling class of the City that they were only allowed to be a City State with it's own governance at his permission, not subtly hinting at the fact that if he needed to, he would subjugate the city once more. The King had the ring leaders of the initial revolt hunted down and executed as well, telling the citizens that this violence was not to be tolerated. Though, he left once piece of legislation that gave the City a new avenue to pursue, he gave the people the ability to create an Assembly of the Commons to voice discontent with their ruling class.
This was the start of long "conversation", filled to the brim with bribery, politics and populace movements. While the beginning had begun as an informal voicing of grievances, the Aristocracy was not happy with Berthelot for giving the poor such a potent outlet of power. They would quickly introduce new laws that stripped the Assembly of any legal right to exist, despite it being a Royal decree. As their rights were eroded even past the point where the riots had begun, a rebel faction emerged from the Commons.
A group tired of the Aristocracy getting what they wanted, refusing to listen to reason, the Foxes appeared from the heads of the Assembly. They treated the laws for what they were, tools of subjugation. So too they would disregard those laws and nullify them by simply taking what was theirs. What belonged to the people...
