Silence
"No, these halls are filled with the vibrancy of the choir. The voices creating yet new possibilities as their waves crest and crash against shores yet unseen. Through the lost meditation in the voices above, through the found songs below, in this present, in this future, the past is understood. That voice that rings out through the void, heedless of its impossibility. Go forth with your sacrilegious sin of the unforgiven, bring silence."
Effect
The Spell is simple in concept, yet is it deceptively complex depending on the focus and intent behind the force used. In it's simplest form it stills the song that creates magic, for all magic is just a song that echoes forth from the original. This spell ceases all spell effects...instantly.
- Basic form: The voice of the caster matches the song used by the opponent but in opposing frequency, thus nullifying the spell in a net zero scenario. At least for a time...
- Further Understanding: Should the caster be aware that all magic comes from similar sources, no spell is immune to this counter spell. This includes all magic laid on objects, meaning Artificed items. As well as any spell written or composed. Any enchanted item is subject to this same stilling.
- Deeper Understanding: If the caster is aware of the Wayfare Magic as well as the Songs that make up all things in the remains of Namix. They would be freely able to manipulate the Song's Afterglow and it's resonance. By nullifying the magic of creation, the caster is effectively able to void out anything, including sections of reality itself.
- True Understanding: There are is only one example of a singular caster holding this level of understanding. But first, one needs to know this; the stillness in silence is not something to be feared. All great songs rest between notes, all great compositions use the suspense of the quiet to enhance the greatness of the tune. Ilgor of the Skullbrood Clan is the only one who understands the nature of this magic better than even the gods that created her. Her voice more potent than even the Vilorlith. Should she wish it, her voice can be made to silence even the gods, and all they hold regency over.
Side/Secondary Effects
Many many many unintended consequences stem from the upper level variants of this arcane sin. At it's most basic level the caster will feel a profound sense of wrongness regardless of any disposition the caster may feel. No creed, no ethnicity, no moral code, no belief survives intact from the use of this spell. It is a fundamental wrongness to the basic reality around the caster. Many casters outright refuse to use even the most basic level of this spell, as it causes a panic attack and general disgust in the caster. Many casters preferring to use Spell Parry instead, once the spell was introduced by Cori of the Skullbrood Clan during the Second War.
In the upper levels of this spell the caster will experience gaps in time, specifically memory as the mind struggles to grapple with voiding of reality that it has inflicted upon the world. Continued use of this spell with cause the caster to loose all memory and cease to function as the body forgets what it's biological processes are meant to do.
If the caster is not cognizant of the fact that these spells are part of the Great Songs, they can tear holes in reality briefly and crack the already fragile mess that holds Namix together. Only Ilgor knows that the highest level of this spell can do, as what it does is not something mortal minds are capable of knowing without out right insanity.
An item capable of recreating this spell without the necessary understanding does exist. Though, fickle use of this item is extremely encouraged.
