Masking

Masking is general use term in the world, used by Casters of various levels of ability. Masking typically is used by those who hold very potent or powerful abilities. Casters with Greater Talents and Domains are the ones who typically need to learn this skill, as their ambient magical discharge can interfere with many arcane engines in the world, some of these machines feed of this residual for power, as well as a great many runic arrays in the ever expanding steam powered world. All masking is, is the ability to reduce the discharge of energy around them.

Some like the Goblins of the Skullbrood Clan, need to constantly mask their power when speaking to other species. Their native ability to demand the attention of all living things is considered a very rude thing to do, and as such mask their Tonal Magic out of respect. Gjorn Fourth king of Dwarves also needs to do this as well.

Some like The Sage of Huron: Emily Von Eule and Azorez "Twin Souls" Alverezdo this just to not be seen constantly by anyone with a more sensitive ability to see magic. By and large, a modern world is built and powered by these magics, though with progress comes new problems.
