Children of Alnya

The Crossing of threads through forests of time, shattered in their relics of a bygone age.

The Ancient Progeny:

Following The War of the Shadows, the Fae's genetic tendency for stability lent itself well to become the over arching genetic gossamer for what would become the modern peoples of the world. The Fae were built by the Queen to undergo a great amount of adaptability so that they themselves could continue their endless pursuit of knowledge on their was to ascension, second to none barring the Brownies. Though, shapeshifting creatures of the night sky and the endless song in the choir of the cosmos with their Mother, the Brownies were far more forces of nature in comparison to the Fae.

The Fae themselves underwent numerous adaptations to encounter whatever challenge came their way. Being the most physically diverse of all of the Children, the Fae built cultures the likes of which modern societies built their worlds upon. A human would find themselves very comfortable inside Fae cities, and would be able to understand their thought process and behaviors. They ranged from light skinned multicolored eyed humanoids, to dark skinned golden eyed searchers of desert lands. To the mermaid tailed denizens of waterborne planets to the faun-like creatures of humid forest cover globes. The Fae were numerous and prosperous in their endeavors.

Arcane architects of technology foreign to the minds of man. The first known written languages being in their tongues as they listened to the song of the Vilorlith and her children. There is a reason the magic of this world is written in Elder Fae. The ancient rites and traditions of mighty cities were written in the sweat and blood of the Fae.

Fae-borne:

While unknown to the minds of the dominating races of the world of The Great Tree. They are all Fae... in a sense. For you see, The Shadows needed to bring afterglow of their conflict to an end. The Giants proved to be far to unbreakable to spread. The Brownies had become extinct under their persecution. The Faeries lost without their light to guide them through the darkness of this new world. But, the Fae...

Their adaptability made them perfect for molding into the new races of Man. Later to become both the Dwarves and the Gnomes. Out of all the survivors of the War, at least in terms of population, the Fae emerged victorious under new bodies and names.

Shared customary codes and values

Understanding. Planar, physical, metaphysical, divine and occult knowledge is their domain. The Fae are a strange species to the modern mind of mortal mentalities, take things for face value they will not. Take things as they are spoken to find meaning behind simple statements, to understand the Fae and their inner workings is to understand the mind of Alnya, a task in which only the other Children were meant to ascend to.

In modern depictions the Fae are regarded as nothing but a fairytale. Always there to manipulate the words spoken, always there to make deals where are none to be had, or at least to great detriment to those who attempt to make them. Strange beings that stalk the wood, animalistic, Knife eared creatures that mock the human form. Yet... A Fae is a Child, an offspring of one of the four original gods of the world before Namix was destroyed.

The Fae enjoy delving into questions until there are no paths left to take, a trait they share with their Mother. The great branching paths of their discoveries leading to paths shrouded by even the gods themselves. Curiosity is held in the highest regard, Scrutiny is sacred. Questions are holy, answers only coming to the most devoted souls.

Born into a body of golden souls, desperate to be realigned. Eight limbs, two tongues, redefining false design.   Separation magnetizing a reunion of golden souls. Reassembled at hip, mind to defy the current, dispel your demons your predications to which does not belong, welcome home.   Every day that you spent searching for the womb of your rebirth, the rivers in which flowed formless. Preserving every sacred organ just to show them what their worth. To questions the weave of life's ether.

First off, the art here is really well done! I love how the adaptability of the Fae is showcased, it really emphasizes their resilience and survival, and how they continue to evolve over time. The detail in their diversity and culture makes them feel alive and deeply thought-out.

I'm glad you like it! I at some point want to do a redo on the Queens portrait, but that's neither here nor there. Their adaptability became something of a double edged sword, something that allowed them to survive, but at the cost of becoming something they were never meant to be.

May you find the truth as it billows through the branches...
