Deep in the grasslands of Gha'khul there is a blue flower known for its vibrant blue color. The sky daisy is often seen as a good omen for scholars traveling in the deep south as it often grows around water. Over the years scholars have noticed when they would stop for water their horses would sometimes fall ill. It was then they noticed that the horses would eat the daisies and get sick. They would eventually start to use the term “sky fever” whenever something got sick from the flowers.
Symptoms
Scholars have found that the consumption of a large amount of the flower petals will lead to a high fever and convulsions. Their eyes also turn a dark shade of red. After several hours the subject is then consumed by a rage and a thirsting for iron. This was noticed when the sick horses would gnaw on tools or their own skin until they bled.
During the 3rd crusade, knights of the Dominion would notice that many of the Org’var would have their faces painted a bright blue and were in a frenzy more intense that many of the other Org’var. When Hollan scholars would hear of this they would recognize the signs and realize that the Org’var were purposely consuming sky daisies in order to enter into a blood fueled rage.
Southern Practices
The Ra’var are known to purposely ingest dangerous amounts of sky daisies to bring on the sky fever before going into battle. Due to their size and strength they are able to control the thirst that is brought on by the fever. Ra’var warriors that are first into battle while suffering from the sky fever are known as the Val’gol or Wild Blooded. They are known to charge across the battlefield shouting unknown curses against their foes. They lose any sense of fear and enter into a state where they can only think of killing.
