Merit
The monetary unit of the Digital Conclave, with which all government sanctioned transactions are made.
Significance
The Conclave government wanted to avoid socioeconomical differences rising among its citizens but still be able to reward hard work, so it eliminated all manner of physical currency and in its place created merits.
Merits are a number that exists only associated to the account of an individual, and are exclusively used for transactions between that individual and the government, be it receiving merits as pay for their work or expending them in exchange for food, ammunition, medicine, repairs or entertainment. Merits cannot be transfered between individuals, and are created and destroyed as the government sees fit without it affecting their fixed value. It is also worth mentioning merits must be expended within a certain timeframe after they are recieved, or they cease to exist.
As their value depends entirely on the trust Conclave citizens have for their government, they are absolutely worthless outside the CAI, where they wouldn't even be able to be traded for anything since the software necessary to manipulate them would shut down.
