Smell of death

The flora of the Veilshade Wilds is extremely varied with a biodiversity that exceeds all other places in Midranor. Among the hundreds of grass species exists one of particular benefit for those that try and survive the wilds — Hunter's grass. When processed and smoked the grass heightens your senses to smell the stench of dead. It helps travellers avoid the areas of the Veilshade Wilds where predators hide or carnivorous plants lie in wait. Members of the Witcher Order also use it in their hunt for necromancers as their undead always leave a trace the can be followed with Hunter's Grass

Hunter's Grass

It's long and thin, split in three along the centre and grows to around 20 cm when left alone. When it's raw the taste is spicy, like a common peppar, and sweet like sugar. The taste sticks as a almost glue like liquid runs inside the leaves coating your mouth in the spice. Ingesting the raw grass has no benefits although it is sometimes used in cooking to help bonding of ingredients. For the sense of death to be heightened the grass must first be dried out until the sticky liquid turns hard and brittle. It is then crushed and the powder is made into different forms for smoking. It requires quite a bit of getting used to as the spiciness increases a lot when it dries out.

D&D Benefits
