Rise of the Greentide

I know full well of my father's cowardice and greed. Know that his action cursed the bond we once shared. But I beg of you to aid us. For Dvergar's darkest hour is upon us.
— King Valrik begging for aid
Asgan, Flame of Ruin and enemy of all mortal life, was dead. Over two centuries of war and torment had come to an end. But as the people of Dvergar were slowly beginning to breathe freely once again, they failed to notice the clouds gathering in the south. The wrath of the Adjari was still burning and Dvergar's trial not yet over.

A Lone Dragon

When the Dragons first attacked Dvergar, they did so in a swarm over a thousand strong. All but a few dozen were killed when the Dvergari Mages unleashed their Runestorm in response. The survivors dispersed in all directions, mostly into the rugged north. A lone female escaped into the empty south, however. Eventually, the world would know her as Urani - Mother of Beasts.   Far beyond the river Janur, she found a vast valley in the mountains that was home to a forgotten tribe of Goblins. There she dug herself a new nest, deep under the mountains and like her brethren up north stewed in the pain inflicted upon her, growing ever more monstrous as a result.
Mother of Beasts

Wherever it was a cruel joke of nature or merely the Adjari's monstrous ability to change brought out to its fullest, Urani developed the ability to birth fully-fledged winged Dragons. Her spawn would act as the commanders of her army, for Urani would eventually grow too large to leave her nest. In time, she even surpassed the mountain-sized terror that had been Asgan, although she never managed to match him in terms of sheer power.
Numbers beyond Count

In short order she subdued the Goblins of the surrounding valley, the Greenskins falling so totally and utterly that they began to worship her as a goddess. As the decades passed, her influence began to slowly change them, bringing forth new breeds of Kutay, stronger, fiercer and of a much darker mind. Goblins already reproduce faster than almost any other mortal race, but under the Dragon's mutative influence their numbers exploded.
By 1212 NR, her armies were beginning to spread north into the Bosh Erla and drew the attention of Quirok Ordin. The Dwarven Kingdom had isolated itself from the rest of Dvergar following the Adjari attack, initially for selfish reasons as it had been largely spared from the destruction and had no desire to expend resources or soldiers for what they called "northern interests".   What began with an expedition not returning escalated into all-out war across and under the Bosh Erla. Campaign followed campaign, dozens of supposed "Goblin Nests" were cleaned out and even more, armies smashed. In Ordini chronicles, the 13th century became known as the Time of a Thousand Wars.
You will not burn in our flames. That would be too good a fate for your kind. No, you will drown under the tide of our minions, suffocate just like the land around you.
— Heisga, Spawn of Urani

Tidal Wave

Despite later historians glorifying it as an age of victory, there was no denying that the constant war pushed the Kingdom of Ordin to the brink. Its King, Valrik Strakmar, had long entertained the idea of calling his northern brethren for aid. He hesitated, knowing that his father's decision to isolate Quirok Ordin must have created much resentment.   That was until Gardrik Redbeard reemerged from his four-decade long meditation. The old mage had long suspected that something darker lurked behind the sudden greenskin surge, but it was only in 1337 NR that he managed to locate the source of his dread. How exactly no one knows, but he managed to convince Valrik to give him command of three airships to search for it.   After a week of travelling south and avoiding Dragons all along the way, Redbeard reached his destination. And found his worst nightmares to be true:
The Greentide

The valley below him was filled to the brim with Greenskins. It was a veritable ocean of creatures, dwarfing any force he had ever laid eyes on. The Greentide, as it became known later, was the single largest army to ever march under the skies. Millions of Goblins, a horde whose sheer mass would have been enough to crush even the mightiest of citadels in mere weeks. To arm them, Urani's slaves had hollowed out nearly the entire surrounding mountain-range. As for food, it is best to simply say that her new breed of Goblins had few reservations regarding what or whom they were eating...
The Mother

Knowing that no power on earth could stand against this horde, Gardrik and his company went on to confront Urani herself. What they found deep below the mountains, no one knows. For the few that returned from the mission never dared speak of it. But if the panicked whispers they gave when caught in nightmares are any indication, then ignorance in the matter should indeed be counted as a blessing. What they did tell was that the battle between below the ground sent the horde into a fury, the greenskins having fallen so utterly to her will that they shared her anger, pain and fear...
News of the mission's success came about two weeks after it had set off from Quirok Ordin. A great thunder came from the far south. The entirety of the Bosh Erla was shaking, even the mighty Dvergari holds quaking as if in pain. Titanic dust clouds rose above the Empty Lands and it would not be until a year later that the last of them were dispersed. Then nothing. For months the south remained silent.   Then, three months later, a small group of Dwarves arrived at Ordin's southernmost outpost. Five in total, the last remnant of Redbeard's Expedition. The mage had succeeded in his mission. His titanic battle with Urani had shaken her valley to its very core, breaking the Adjory Devor and causing the entire area to collapse in on itself. Urani and her horde were devoured by the earth.

Last Act

Not all of her children had perished, however. And hot on the heels of the survivors came the last of Urani's Spawn, leading what remained of the Greentide. King Valrik had not been idle in the meantime. Knowing the downfall of his realm imminent, he had sent messengers north to beg for aid. Only one voice answered. Kharn of Stridslope, general of the High Kingdom's 5th Army, marched south.   Against his King's wishes, he aided the Ordini and in the Battle of Olin's Fist, they smashed the remnants of Urani's Horde. Several thousand Goblins and a few Dragons managed to escape, but it would take centuries before any of the entered Dvergar's history again. For a time, the High Kingdom was save from the Adjari.
You should give up trying to understand them, young one. The hatred they have for us is beyond all sanity. Beyond all understanding.
— Amur Scalebreaker on the Adjari

Bigger and Better   Like all Dragons, Urani's soul burned with the essence of their creator. An essence that can cause those around them to change and mutate into new forms, usually darker and twisted than what came before.   The Goblins were no exception. Many new breeds grew under her shadow. Most perished when their mother fell. But some survived to plague the New Order for centuries to come:   Kutavi, the Hobgoblins. As tall as a Dwarf, quick with blade and bow, they are often found at the head of Goblin armies or rebellions. And usually prove their downfall for greed and treachery flow in their very veins.   Artay, the Black Goblins whose hatred for the Dvergari burns almost as hot as that of the Adjari. Nearly as tall as an Elf, they are by far the strongest and most dangerous of their kind. Their cunning is unmatched and their mind for machinery equals that of the Dvergari. By far the most hated of all greenskins.
Ya know em befo ya see em. Dey stink of Adjay. Is lik a blak fok dat burnz da vey soul.
— a Goblin on the Artay
Shadow of the Dragon   Urani's influence would be felt millennia after her death. For she had changed a large part of the Goblin race irrevocably. Those under her shadow had begun to worship her as a god, turning away from The Trickster and The Mother Stone.   In time, some made their way north and spread her Shadow among the rest of Goblinkind resulting in the Kutavskarn, a religious schism that would see the greenskins tribes divided even further and engaged in ever more vicious wars.   Worst among all where the Artay, the Black Goblins. From the shadows, they stirred the Kutay against the New Order and many a war started thanks to their poisoned words.

Definitely a pyrrhic victory. I can feel the desperation coming through in your words. I really like that the war had long lasting effects, especially on goblinkind. The Artar sound rather terrifying.
