Eternal Cough

There are two ways on how to contract this condition.

One is by living close to the eternal darkness. People that contracted it from the source can now give it to other people. Mostly it is spreads through the air and personal contact.

Those that got it from the source usually have a stronger type of this condition then people that were nfected second hand.

Once infected there will always be symptoms. The closer one lives to the darkness, the worse the condition manifests. While the symptoms are mild when one is futher away from the darkness or contracted the condition second hand.

The first thing people notice is that they feel more tired and exhausted than usual. In the beginning it can feel also like the common cold.

Usually one will then get the cough. It hurts a lot more than a common cough and it will be more frequent.

In the late stages of the condition people cough up dark matter. The dark matter is toxic. Rarely people reach this tsage though because they die before it.

There is a vaccine for it but it is not completely safe. Once contracted though it is impossible to cure this condition.

There is some medicinal herbs that have a high chance of prolonging the life of the infected though.

Also moving further away from the darkness helps to manage both symptoms and prolongue life.

The condition is always fatal. How fast it will affect one can be quite individual.

In its first stages one will feel exhausted and tired.

There will be prolonged second stage that feels more like the common cold than anything dangerous.

Stage three starts whith the so called eternal cough. It is more painful and more often than the common cough. One will feel the difference in coughs.

At stage four the cough is almost constant and dark matter will be coughed up. The dark matter is highly toxic and infectious and has to be disposed of immediately.

Most people will die before reaching stage four.

There is a vaccine that works most of the time against second hand infections. Why it works only against second hand infections is unknown.

An infection from the source can be prevented though with the help of a gasmask and certain types of fully closed suits that have become mandatory for scientists entering the danger zone.

It was first discovered by the Librarian Inc. organization when they started to help villages and settlements strongly affected by the eternal darkness.

After that it was more or less trial and error to figure out what works and what does not.

Entire villages were wiped out because of it though. It never really spread past the danger zones near the eternal darkness.
