The Gloamwood || WorldEmber 2025 Prep Part 3
Final part of the WorldEmber homework before December hits and I can start my to-do list of articles and chipping away at that 10k wordcount goal! Work has been picking up like I expected, so I haven't gotten as much done as I might have, but I'm pleased with my progress either way. Hopefully my busy work weeks won't get in the way of me making headway in WorldEmber, but as anyone in food service can attest, working during Christmas season can be draining. Fingers crossed though!
So, let's get this wrapped up.
Bingo Prompts
Tidy up your Writing Space
I am, predictably, a very chaotic and disorganised person. My desk can get a little crampt with how much stuff I try to fit into it, but at the moment it's pretty clear unless a cat decides to sit next to my keyboard and stare at me. Fun fact, I'm in the process of packing stuff to move house! Another thing that might get in the way of writing progress whoops. So a lot of stuff is in boxes and that has contributed to my desk having more space than usual. Once I'm moved in and settled I'm aiming to buy a new desk, so that will create more room for writing, but I feel like that will be a post-WorldEmber thing. Something for next year?
Get some Feedback
Between the feedback from the Discord and my friends, I've been getting lots of feedback on the current state on the WorldAnvil! So far the things I have going for me are my article and paragraph structures, and the overall concepts of what I'm building for my world. As personal feedback for myself, I want to add more visual information to my articles in the future.
Finish All Your Unfinished Articles
At the moment I have the beginnings of species articles that I plan on finishing during WorldEmber, and I've been working on fleshing out the page for the Woodsman profession in the meantime, as that is quite an important profession both lore- and story-wise. I also have a stub for a Clear-Sky Knight but that's not got anything in it at the moment.
Plan Your Worldbuilding Playlist
I have my general writing playlist(s) which consist of my favourite bands that I switch between depending on what kind of mood I'm trying to evoke when writing, and an in-world 'vibes' playlist. Links TBA.
Prepare Visual Elements
I wish I'd had the motivation to draw more than just some MSPaint doodles before the event started, but alas I did not manage that. Art may be featured if I do that in-between writing and work? We'll see.
Make a List of Stubs to Expand
My stubs are all related to WorldEmber, you can find them on the to-do list in my first homework article.
Plan your Writing Schedule
Does anyone do this? XD
My schedule is really going to depend on work, which I get on a weekly basis. Evenings off are for writing! And I plan on writing a little bit every night after work for about 30 minutes minimum.
What are the People in your World Like?
Tired and superstitious, mostly. Groups of people struggle to get along with each other long enough to solve problems that are affecting all of them, and that's lead to a lot of the major conflicts in the world. Like real life I guess.
And that is, shockingly, everything on the bingo! Thanks again to everyone who was so supportive and encouraging in the discord server, both in regards to WorldEmber prep and general worldbuilding advice. I've been trying to put together a skeleton of a timeline regarding historical events and got some really good advice on putting together calendars. Apparently I am not the only person who struggles with that.
See you all in WorldEmber!

Author's Notes
Had to finish a few sections after the event started, but otherwise this has been surprisingly enjoyable!
