Gloamwood Burials

Most peaks across the world lack the space required for burial grounds. Cremations are a common means of laying the dead to rest while also preserving space that can be used for things such as housing, industry and agriculture. Burial grounds and grave sites are usually reserved for the rich and powerful, or in some cases they are created due to religious beliefs.

For those wishing to bury their dead but unwilling to sacrifice the land required to do so, burials in the Gloamwood itself is an option.

Stone Barrows

A fairly common type of Gloamwood burial, bodies are carried to just within the bounds of the Gloamwood and buried in shallow pits. The pit is then covered in a mound of stones, forming a small barrow. Due to their location they are easy to maintain, and so long as you hold good favour with the 'Wood and don't draw attention to yourself, such ventures should be safe enough.

Rooted Barrows

Somewhat riskier than Stone Barrows, preserved bodies are carried further into the woods and left at the roots of a tree with sprawling roots. Those roots are then guided to grow over the body and the gaps are filled in with dirt and stone. If you aren't in good standing with the 'Wood, you may be used to supplement the materials for the barrow, and it will become a grave for two.

Skydrops

For peaks with steep drops into the Gloamwood, sometimes it's safer to just lower the bodies - or drop them - over the edge and let nature take care of the rest.

Barrow - Noun - ˈba-(ˌ)rō
