- Like the sea she embodies, Alcyone is powerful, inscrutable and alien. Many fear her wrath, but it is believed that those who revere her and treat her with the proper respect have her protection in even the wildest storms.
- Sailors, fishermen, and pirates are all likely to worship her.
- Alcyone is often represented in the aspect of a sea serpent (in which form she's said to whip up storms and wreck the vessels of wicked captains) or as a woman with the lower half of a snake.
