Stareye Otter

"Sahfen" as they are known in the Arthdalan tongue which roughly translates to "starry water-dweller," is a species of carnivorous mammal that is local to the east coast of West Realm. They are so named for the strange psychic energy that seems to emit from their third eye, which glistens like starlight while it is open. It is reported that these otters have mystical capabilities that activate while this third eye is open. One of these abilities allows them to move objects underwater without touching them, retrieving meals with ease, including the geysershell which inhabits the hotsprings they frequent.   In terms of size, stareyes are approximately 30-40 centimeters in length, with sleek black fur that shimmers in the light and an otter-like body which easily slides through the narrow tunnels of the hotsprings in Otter's Holt.   These otters are known to be highly territorial and can be dangerous, especially when in groups. Locals of the base know to stay out of their hot springs to avoid potential confrontations. But many ignorant tourists and would-be pearl hunters often wander into the abodes of these rascally critters, drowning as they are pulled under and soon feasted upon, leaving little evidence of their presence behind save some affects which might wind up in the otter's holt. To determine if Stareye Otters live in a hot spring, one can look for signs such as chewed-up shells and broken rocks along the shoreline, typically of geysershells as well as the presence of piles of small pebbles and rocks that the otters use to build their dens. It is recommended to steer clear of these areas to avoid disturbing the creatures.
