CMC-405 “Metis” Light Powered Combat Armour

The Confederate Marine Corps 405 Light Powered Combat Armour, affectionately known as the Metis (Meh-tis) is a fully enclosed void-rated powered combat suit intended for Confederate Medics to treat marines on the frontline.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

As with other CMC pattern armours, the Metis consists of a servo-assisted exo-frame, which provides the wearer enhanced strength and endurance as well as a stable platform to mount equipment.
The exo-frame is covered with a Neo-Steel casing approximately 1/4 inch thick to provide protection from small arms fire and shrapnel. Since the Metis has lighter armour than the marine used CMC-400a Powered Combat Armour users are provided with a large hand-held shield to provide additional protection and cover to both the medic and their charge.
Each Metis comes equipped with a gauntlet-mounted surgical interface and flashbang-concussion grenade launcher, and both Neuro-Stim and Nanite injectors housed within the suit's reactor backpack.

History

The Metis is derived from the initial usage of the old CMC-330 Powered Combat Armour during The Guild Wars for medical personnel to provide on-site treatment of wounded marines. Over the years various improvements and modifications have been made to standardize and refine this initial system into a dedicated support system for battlefield trauma.

Significance

Metis armour allows for medical support staff to administer first aid in a rapid manner while remaining protected themselves from battlefield hazards. It's use has helped to extend the combat effectiveness of frontline marines from minutes to hours and reduce casualties from egregious to tolerable.
