Military action
The War of a Thousand Tears, or the Fifty Years War as many scholars refer to it, was a bloody ordeal started over farming rights concerning a small tract of rice paddies. The precise location of the conflicted paddies was lost during the war itself, as many of the borders between countries, counties and duchies shifted dozens of times during that half century.
What is know is that a young dwarven farmer took to carving out land to plant rice from a hillside in the foothills of the Greyspire Mountains, an area now know as the Blood Hills for its iron-rich soil and gruesome history. The farmer had thought to claim the land he thought had been granted to the dwarven nation of Ormrikkal by the elvens of Kastrea. In fact, the elves still laid claim to the land and hadn't granted the dwarves anything. Where the young farmer got this impression will never be known.
Before the Kastrean government could be alerted, however, the farmer came upon a curious find: an ancient golden Ur'Ghkar burial veil. Rather than keep his fortune to himself, he returned to his village and flaunted his treasure about for all to see, telling many curious dwarves exactly where he had found it. Before he knew it, the rest of his village had set about digging up the hillside which he had falsely claimed as his own. Word spread as more gold and treasure was looted from the earthen barrow of an ancient Ur'Ghkar burial site.
