Elturgard
Elturgard is a realm in the Western Heartlands. A theocratic nation ruled from the city of Elturel, dedicated to Torm and defended by its paladin knighthood, the Order of the Companion.
Centered on Elturel, Elturgard covers the Fields of the Dead north and south of the River Chionthar.
The forests that surrounded Elturgard—the Reaching Woods, Forest of Wyrms, and the Werewoods—are wild and hazardous. Several miles south of Elturel, a pocket of plagueland is often the source of undead troubles.
Elturgard is broken into three fiefdoms ruled by Barons that answer to the Cardinals of Torm. Lord Baron Atrin, Lord Baron Vidd Vernocil and Lord Baron Ebar Murko.
Elturgard has grown through annexation and diplomacy rather than the sword, bringing Triel and Soubar willingingly into the fold through promises of protection from the frequent undead threats. This however does not mean Elturgard is not without means to defend itself through force. Rather, due to Elturgard being rich in both land and resources yet dangerously vulnberable to invasion due to little to no natural barriers against its powerful neighbours, the nation has a standing army and a well developed beauracry to mobilise a conscripted army quickly and effeciently.
Elturgard continues to grow and gain wealth and influence in the unending games of nations and the ever watchful eye of Thevious Kreeg and his Council of Lions.

Laws
Crimes of a national concern are investigated by the Order of The Companion. A hard line military police force. They are tasked with the duty of keeping critical roads safe for citizens and international travelers alike.
Local laws fall under the jurisdiction of each local Baron. Barons are given freedom to create and remove any laws that do not pertain to the states doctrine. Barons are given agency in how they enact punishment for breaking this local laws. They do however answer to their Archbiship on issues that pertain to the state religion. It is often the case that a Baron will abdicate the responsibility of adjudicating on such matters, leaving it to the Archbishop of the fiefdom to enact the will of The High Observer and Torm.

Agriculture & Industry
The Field of the Dead and The Green Fields are Great Grain Plains. These are the primary agricultural zones outside of subsistence farming that the surrounding towns survive on. These grains are stored in case of natural disasters and traded with surrounding nations.Cormyr and Dalelands being the biggest markets.
Both of these Plains are contested with other nations and are often sources of delicate political tensions.

Mythology & Lore
Torm is the Faerûnian patron deity of paladins and the god of duty, loyalty, righteousness, obedience and law. The symbol of the Loyal Fury, a right-hand gauntlet held upright with palm forward, is known as the Hand Resolute among his followers. It symbolizes not only that Torm is the good right hand of Tyr, representing the God of Justice's missing sword hand, but also the principle of forebearance, that the true and just had to pause and consider their actions first so as to ensure their intent would uphold the chivalric ideals Torm exemplified
Divine Origins
The origins of Torm were a mystery, although it was known he was once a mortal hero during the time of the fall of Netheril, who eventually became a demigod. Many scholars believed that the mortal Torm lived in a nation on the Border Kingdoms known as Chalsembyr.
Torm gained considerable attention and praise during the Time of Troubles, when his faithful helped keep one of the missing Tablets of Fate safe, and his own avatar battled and completely destroyed the avatar of Bane outside Tantras on Eleasis in the Year of Shadows, 1281 DR, seemingly killing the god.
Torm died in that battle, but because of his loyalty to his portfolio, Lord Ao resurrected Torm shortly after the end of the Time of Troubles and Tyr raised him to the status of lesser deity.
In the Year of Three Streams Blooded, , the dark god Cyric manipulated Tyr to battle Helm, god of guardians, over a misunderstanding. Tyr won, and Helm died. Crushed by grief and shame, Tyr abdicated his godhood and granted Torm all his divine power. Tyr counseled all of his followers to offer their allegiance to Torm.
In the Year of Blue Fire, 1285 DR, after the Spellplague had wreaked havoc in the planes, a group of demons led by the balor lord Axithar invaded Fearun. Tyr and Torm sent calls for help, the dragon god Bahamut answered by sending his legions to aid in destroying the demons. However, Tyr died while defending the mortal plane.
Afterwards, Torm was elevated to Deity and promoted Bahamut to the same position he once occupied while serving Tyr
Cosmological Views
The lord above Oa created the cosmic and mortal plane. He created man and elf and dwarf. As they grew he witnessed thier values and pursuits develop. He decided that he would make more celestial children to help guide and manage the mortals based on thier virtue and vices.
Some mortals were deemed so exceptional in their commitment to a particular ideal that he elevated them to the status of Demi-God. Torm was one such mortal.
Torm's divine realm was called Trueheart. In the Great Wheel cosmology, it was located in Mercuria, the second of the Seven Heavens.

Sects
Eye of Justice: This order, based in Westgate, was considered heretical by many Tormites. The Order worshiped a form of Torm they referred to as the "Threefold God", which they believed to be a combination of Torm and the dead gods Tyr and Helm. Members of this sect had no pity or fear and often used tactics some would consider questionable. The Order attracted outcasts from other orders as well as people seeking redemption for evil acts.
Girded Healers: Members of this order worshiped both Torm and Ilmater. The primary purpose of this order was to heal those touched by war or the Spellplague
