Bound to the Ring

The rumours about this place were founded. I can't even fathom how is this possible... It's probably going to be the last report I can send, the hull is already cracking down. Not even three cycles after entering the Deep, we came across a wandering telluric planet with seven sets of planetary rings. We named it Gerna because of the... that's not important. The rings were impossibly lit, despite the nearest star being light-years away. And yet it was reflected light, not emitted. We got close to make sense of this first mystery, which was our last mistake. The rings are made of a pale metal that the engineer failed to identify, and they got a force of attraction so intense we cannot get away, no matter how much fuel we burn. We have exhausted all our options and are dragged inexorably to the ring. The pressure is so intense that the auxiliary bridges all collapsed, only the main hull remains intact, for now. This is not gravity, nor anything that can be explained with our understanding of physics. I send this message while trying to come to terms with my inevitable end. Whoever listens to this, don't go near the pale rings if you value your life. Ah, I still have so much left to do, can it really end like this? I guess so.
