The Hesperides Serpent

OVERVIEW

LADON is a hundred-headed dragon that guards nothing anymore, its golden apples long since stolen. It has gone mad with purposelessness. It descended from the western mountains and now coils through the valleys, killing anything that moves. Each head has a different venom. Some paralyze. Some ignite the blood. Some induce visions of glory so intense the victim dies smiling.

It punishes ambition. The more glory-hungry the warrior, the more the dragon's venom shows them victories they'll never achieve. They die reaching for phantom triumphs.

Current Status: Has destroyed two villages. Strategos Eryx led a company against it and lost forty men. He retreated. He's never retreated before. The dragon is currently coiled around the ruins of Botein's northern granary, sleeping on gold it doesn't want.
