while ongoing since china collapsed into warlord states in the early 1920s during the Japanese invsion the civil war was put on a "pause" which while formally meant the communists and Shichang national front were at peace the nation government continued to massacre and supress the communists whenever possible. For the first few months after the war peace only existed as both sides prepared for the inevitable fight to come. When the war finally broke out the United states came to the aid of their allies in china angainst the communist forces sending a million men to fight, the soviets sent aid in the form of weapons and food for the communists in northern china. At first the war went well for the Communist Chinese front who quickly over ran beijing, almost managing to take the capital of Nanjing before american re-enforcements and overwhelming air power managed to prevent its fall. A horrifying trench war began to set in as more and more men on both sides were mobalised. Step by step however across the board due to low moral and continual partisan attacks disrupting supply the Chinese element of the Sino-American front began to collapse having to continually retreat only given resbite by Communist supply lines being over stretched as it is without their new gains. By 1952 the situation had stabilised and the Sino-American front began to finally make gains using their complete air and naval superiority near the coastlines, even attempting a naval invasion on the shandong peninsula for a time creating chaos in the Communist lines before the situation began to stabalize again and the Communists managed at enormous cost to push the americans back into the sea. In 1961 in fustration with the worsening situation in China despite the enormous cost and staggering death toll rather than let the SNF collapse the American government decided to use the worlds first offensive nuclear strike. 67 thermonuclear bombs were detonated over the yellow river entirely enhilating all supply to the Communist army south of the river. Cascading bursting of dams and dykes filled the chinese countryside with enormous levels of radiation forcing the fullscale retreat of Communist forces as they attempted to save as many men from being cut off and destroyed as possible. The war would begin to wind down following this incident as neither side could cross the massive irradiated waterlogged wasteland between them. the war would Finally come to an end in 1965 creating the new border along the new borders of the yellow river with a DMZ across the radioactive zone between the two sides. estimates of deaths from the war and radiation lie between 100-120 million chinese and 1.2 million american.

Early into the independent colonial expansion era following the earlier treaty of Amsterdam and the decision to split colonial efforts along nation lines within the larger commonwealth of nations. Portugal under the self appointed Emily Alonzo discovered a two planet system in a previously overlooked star cluster hoping to get two habitable worlds for the price of one. Upon arrival into the system they were surprised to discover both planets were not only super habitable worlds but currently both inhabited by a developed pre lower space civilization. After sending word back to the capital about the discovery the Portuguese government resolved to destroy the small presence on the more habitable planet since it was seen to be the easiest option to protect the countries investment into the system claim and prevent future competition from the natives and cause another Redstone catastrophe. On the 11th of march hostilities began as Portuguese forces engaged the local forces who were up to this point unaware of their presence in the system. Initially the Portuguese easily swept across the planet using superior weapons and complete air supremacy to destroy key logistical points. Reinforcements wouldn't come from the home systems for another 9 months so as casualties began to mount on the planet and attrition took its tole on the limited number of vehicles the war began to turn to the natives favour. On the 19th of December an attack on dockyards on the home world resulted in the unexpected loss of a colony ship as an unknown minefield had been laid in advance around the dockyards detonating upon the ship exiting lower space forcing a retreat in what would be the first victory in the war for the natives. As the larger fleet arrived system side on the 23rd of January the massive number of reinforcements allowed the Portuguese to establish a space elevator and begin establishing a permanent colony on the planet while their ground forces pushed onto the native capital, burning it down and massacring the population in brutal atrocities. with the natives in full retreat on the planet by mid June it was thought the war would be over by the end of the year until in desperation a carpet of nuclear weapons were detonated across what would come to be known as the wastes. Fearing radiation poisoning in the troops prevented further Portuguese progress, until sufficient craft could be built to ferry troops round the wastes the offensive ground to a halt in the mountain passes and jungles surrounding. February 3rd 2364 saw an unexpected turn in the war as repurposing the lower space drive from the downed ship into a newly constructed flag ship of a large fleet in an attempt to throw everything they had into a final stand against the Portuguese fleet. Appearing unexpectedly out of lower space at first the Portuguese assumed they were supply ships from the core systems that were arriving earlier than expected until after attempting to contact them quickly realised the mistake they had made. a barrage of missiles were quickly batted away but then the men began to start looking sun burnt onboard the ships as they began firing at the unidentified enemy ship. The battle was over in 20 minutes, then the radiation sickness began to catch up to the crews. Every crew member would die on board the ships of the course of the next 3 weeks as their bodies decayed from the inside out from the immense radiation exposure
