Sogno di Lombardi Class /B/

Propulsion

The main propulsion consists of a typical set of ion thrusters powered by a fusion reactor around the rear of the ship, however the class was the first to get the new General Electric company Spada-di-stoffa CIX lower space key allowing for a more rapid open rate than previous models for the size of ship and allowing "unstable jumps" to be more reliably performed in emergency.

Weapons & Armament

Main Batteries

Three central Canon Accélérateur Magnétique barrels ring the centre of the ship rather than the more traditional single larger gun as manufacturing a weapon that large proved to be too taxing on hull in testing and would reduce the operational service of the ship drastically. A dedicated coiling reactor specially designed for the new class by Vickers Armstrongs allows for continues fire, not seen in any previous ship cutting the waiting time per shot to 30 seconds.

Secondary Batteries

As a wider commonwealth flag ship and not force sale or use by local nations navies, local quirks such as the addition of torpedoes were not considered, deciding instead for the usual secondary compliment of swarm missiles and for closer engagements with smaller vessels

Hangars & docked vessels

Each vessel carries four Mudskipper Class Corvette for crew evacuations and on occasion as a message carrier if the ship was to be isolated from its fleet and a message needed to be sent back to the nearest communication centre. The ship does not carry its own lower space key so it requires the use of the Lombards to open a door for them before heading for CoN communication nexus coordinates to get out of lower space.
As the most modern generation of CoN Battleships the Sogno di Lombardi Class is widely seen as the pinnacle of current human capabilities in space warfare
