Norfolk Shipbuilding

While beginning as a private naval vessel contractor operating out of the pre-established naval dockyards in Norfolk Virginia, the company began picking up more and more small contracts for small naval vessels and were given funds by the US government to expand the facilities massively in order to facilitate the growing naval arms race between the United Kingdom and the USA that began in the late 1920s. The funds would be granted before the finacial crash allowing Norfolk to escape near unharmed due to the ongoing works preventing construction of new vessels anyway.   In 1935 they would through a stroke of good luck and some well placed campaign funds secure their first capital ship constuction contracts massively boosting profits and leading to the construction of even more dry docks to prepare for an expected future naval war with the United Kingdom. This did not come to pass as in 1940 the japanese would launch a surprise attack on the American fleet in Manila beginning the Pacific war. This worked into Norfolks favour massively being given a near unlimited budget to build ships of all shapes and sizes for the duration of the war, finishing it as the sole company with dockyards large enough to build the new super aircraft carriers that the US would begin making to compete with the strengthened post war Royal Navy and the new Commonwealth of Nations which was had unified a large portion of Europe under one common forgein policy.    Over the coming decades Norfolk would buy out the rest of its major competitors and become the main supplier of ships to the US navy along with an equally large civilian sector in commercial ship building. Norfolk would not be the pioneers of space colonisation but would be guaranteed their special position as the PASO's ship builder with the founding of PASO's most inportant colony, the NAGFSY on Io - Moon. Norfolk Shipbuilding would then cement its unassailable position in the military industial complex and leading to it ultimately always having an outsized influence on the government even when compared with the other members of the The Untouchable 7
