Antimatter Weaponry
Manufacturing
Antimatter still can only be obtained through artificial creation in partical colliders which can be configured to create a much larger amount than they ever could in the 20 or 21st century but still need hundreds if not thousands operating simultaneously for years to even produce a singular gram of the material. For this reason antimatter is not a viable military weapon outside of specific high priority targets so nuclear weapons are still far more common and only militaries or government companies would have any ability to access it due to the vast scale of manpower and reasources needed to even begin to get it in quantities large engough to be useful.
Social Impact
The first use in anger of an antimatter weapon was first used as a primitive bomb designated "planet cracker" by the Redstone Astronautics Corporation in 2334 and would soon lead to the most infamous atrocity in human history when a militarised wing of the Redstone Astronautics Corporation used their new experimental antimatter weapon for the first and only time on the population of Verinox killing at least half a billion people in a split second and leading to the weapons immediate ban by all three human empires (although all three would ignore this and begin testing their own anti matter weapons systems which would be developed over the coming centuries). Antimatter by 2500 is very uncommon and outside of very specific industrial purposes, being heavily regulated and seen as incredibly dangerous by the majority of people everywhere but the USR where antimatter is used far more commonly (still rare) for machines too small for nuclear power but requiring a near limitless power source.
Discovery
While anti matter particals were discovered as early as 1929 the ability to produce them in large enough numbers to utilise in weapons systems only came about with first the creation of artificial antimatter iron atoms which would prove far easier to store due to it naturally being solid up to high tempratures which solved multiple long term and safe transport issues. This was then followed up with the construction on smaller moons and planets of antimatter production facilities to experiment with the possibility of antimatter as the single most powerful source of power in the universe.
