Gnomish Auxiliary
Composition
Manpower
There is no set number. Whether composed of five or five thousand it all refers to Gnomish Auxiliary.
Equipment
Infinitely varied. Since every gnome has a different specialty or focus this has translated into 'martial' endeavors. This means a vast and varied amount and types of tools is required. Luckily gnomes tend to take everything they might need with them this is usually readily at hand. In a pinch tools can be shared though there is often no uniformity in their make and intended uses. It's always good to ask about the force the spring loaded mallet can do before employing it.
Weaponry
Given the broad range of disciplines the gnomes engage in it should be no surprise that their approach to military to be just as diverse. This can run the gambit from semi-reliable automatic crossbows to chicken delivered caltrops to attempts at making things go boom and every conceivable thing in between.
Vehicles
For whatever reason a general purpose gnomish wagons are almost always reliable with excellent shock absorbers and durable wheels. It's when after market modifications are attempted. Every Gnomish Auxillery runs on their wagons

Tactics
Point whatever they brought to the fight in the general direction of the enemy and pray the maths were correct.
Logistics
Logistical Support
Gnomes are very thorough packers and planners. When they travel they try to have everything they could possibly need. Plus most are exceptional scroungers and resource gatherers so can usually find whatever they need with a little effort,
Upkeep
The Congress of Colleges deemed war just a specialized experiment environment and thus funding for all war endeavors can generally receive the funding needed as long as appropriate requisitions are filled out.
History
An interesting historical note concerning Gnomish Auxiliary. A millennia ago a general was ordered to take command of an army that included about two hundred gnomish auxiliary. Not wanted to take the risk the gnomes he refused unless the merchant prince who funded the army agreed to pay the general a set sum if the Auxiliary caused harm to the rest of the army. This is the first record of an insurance arrangement.
