Golden Vajer

Golden Vajer is one of the most important plants for the people of The Falling City. Thanks to its hardiness it can grow under the trying circumstances of the city, and it still yields a lot of food per square meter of grown crop if taken care of properly.  

Appearance

Golden Vajer is, as the name suggests, a rich yellow, almost gold color. The stalks are quite short due to originally growing in particularly windy conditions. At the top grows a bud roughly 2cm long and 1cm wide. When the Golden Vajer is fully grown, the bud opens up to four small leaves lined with seeds. These dry for a couple of days before falling off and spreading with the wind.  

Uses

Despite how easy it is to grow, Golden Vajer can yield a lot of food. The seeds are most commonly used. If you cook them they become soft and taste surprisingly sweet with some woody undertones. The leaves on which the seeds grow can be heated up into crispy snacks, perfect for when you're just a bit peckish or as a base for a dish. To make sure nothing is wasted, it's also common to take the stalk of the Golden Vajer and cook them. While not as tasty as the rest of the plant, the soft stalks is very good for getting your stomach full and ready for a hard days work.  

Growing

Since the Golden Vajer originates from the windy coastlines, it has no problems rooting itself to the soil of plantations on the roofs of the city. Most of the plantations are owned by the people in the building, but especially those on top of government buildings or factories instead give their yield to the common storage.
