Ylmahdan Mountains (Yuhl-mah-dan)

A Map of Geron

A very rugged but temperate mountain chain which stretches from the foothills of the Solas Masiff in a practically straight line to the the limestone peaks and temperate forests of the Ylmahd Masiff before transitioning into the beaten hills and steppes of the Senaad Masiff. Peaks as high as 8900 feet riddle the range, containing ancient Archaean ruins isolated by the tremendous inaccessibility of the region. Strong rivers carve deep valleys through the Archaea here, exposing first the ancient ruins of the Tekal.

The stone homes and towns of the once proud Ylmahdani cattle herders become increasingly common to the south of the mountains, crumbling amongst fields now overgrown with beech and coastal pines. While it's easy to blame the emptiness of the region on the wolves, bears and other creatures that slink from the increasingly exposed Archaea deep in the mountains, the area is also right in the middle of Solas, Kel and Ebron, three places which most travellers would prefer not to end up.
