Orbitian Gloves

Magnets? Never heard of them, how would they even work?

Without any gravity throughout most of the realm, the inhabitants from the plane of air found a way to manipulate their own. The Orbitian Gloves are a specialised pair of gloves designed for handling zero-g environments, using small amounts of Orbiton metal to create their own pull.

Basic Information

Most standard-issue gloves are leather gloves with the tips adorned in Orbiton metal, with certain models having additional plates on the back of the hand.   The presence of Orbiton generates a small gravitational pull, which the user can then use to either pull objects nearby, or with larger structures even pull themselves back towards it. Positioning of the fingers can either increase or decrease the range or intensity of a pull.

Orbitian Gauntlet

Stronger models ditch the leather glove for a full gauntlet that covers the forearm, hiding the wrist in the sheer bulk of it. The amount of Orbiton is also increased with a full disk on the palm and denser tips, making the pull even stronger than with regular gloves.

The downside is their clunkier design, making them less suitable for delicate work without additional equipment.

Cultural usage

Airship pilots and navigators across the open airs rely on these gloves to prevent drifting off into landless territories, as even the lightest form of pull could save their life. While it is handy to get back to larger vessels, it also helps reach smaller objects floating around them when necessary.

Combat

Aerial combat styles use the gravitational pull to fight both in a defensive and offensive manner. The momentum created with it can allow for a lot of acrobatic maneuvers, pulling themselves with the gravity to allow for bigger lunges. Others prefer to disarm with it, pulling weapons out of other people's hands or even pulling the target wholesale towards them in the progress.
