Dosasque Cuisine

There are few cultural cuisines that have changed so much in the past century as the traditional foods of Dos have with their changing homeland.   When the country was founded, there was little in the area of Amaram's first foundations. They had yet to plant crops in the rocky soil, Tidebreaker Peak had yet to be tapped, and the ocean was their only true resource.   Fish became the basis of much of their cuisine out of necessity, with later introductions simply added onto it as their continued inclusion could not be guaranteed in perpetuity. Now, several centuries later and with much greater confidence in their ability to acquire and maintain a supply of ingredients, their cuisine has evolved to the level one would expect of a country rich in history and resource.   To this end, the Dosasque colonies to the east have been invaluable, providing fruit and vegetables that simply don't grow in the soil of the Dosasque mainland, not to mention the spices that grow wild in such places. On the mainland itself, the main crop is a species of rice grown in huge irrigated paddies, which has become a stable food for its complimentary flavor to the fish.

Execution

The culinary scene within Dos is not as high as others, there are few high-class restaurants anywhere but the capital, but the food culture is something heartwarming. The process of sharing with friends and family is held in high regard, and it is viewed as proper for the host to provide guests with food. This is a practice that has lead to the development of a particular habit of Dosasque hosts, resulting in the lavishing of guests within the hosts means. If you visit Dosasque, and end up within the home of a Dosasque Otonomoi, prepare to leave with your hands full if your host is particularly stingy, or your pack full if they truly like you.

Components and tools

Fish and rice are the most common foods, with vegetables and fruit being used to accent.   Spices like cinnamon, ginger, and several species of chilies are the spices the appear most commonly.
