Malavach, the God of Destruction (MAL-ah-vack)
Malavach is the God of Violence, Carnage, Bloodshed, War, Vengeance, and depending on your interpretation, any number of similar concepts. He is the creator of the first Demons and their home plane, a place of eternal conflict known commonly as "The Bloodfields" or "The Warring Plains" by most mortals in the Emergent Plane. One would need to ask a Demon directly what it is called in their native language, and that's a hard feat to accomplish considering most Demons are not exactly conversational.
Malavach is locked in perpetual battle with his brother Torach, the God of Retribution, and their conflict is so fierce that it spills over into the Emergent Plane, providing the light of the sun that shines across the world. While the gods are not able to freely traverse the Emergent Plane, Malavach and Torach have resided within it in some form since The Lord of Games first stepped through and brought the other deities to it. Their conflict continued the second they stepped into the Emergent Plane, and the prevailing belief among religious scholars is that their constant battle emanates such godly power that it tethers them to the plane of Mortals.
Depictions of Malavach's appearance vary wildly, as he is not a god that has been directly viewed in his true form by a mortal. What is universally accepted, however, is that elements of fire are involved, as Malavach is historically credited as being the creator of flame. The story goes that Malavach brought with him to the Emergent Plane his unending wrath and lust for violence, with fire being nothing more than the physical manifestation of Malavach's will, formless, insatiable, and destructive.
His relentless fury threatened to consume the Emergent Plane, and so Thaemenar, the God of Life, in his benevolent love of the newly created mortal races, infused his own will into the flame. This granted it properties related to the God of Life, causing fire to not just be destruction and pain, but also light, warmth, and bestowing it with the capacity to sustain life itself. Because of this, fire is consciously viewed as being useful and good, even revered and worshipped in some cultures, while remaining an instinctual fear among most races whether they be sentient or bestial. What Thaemenar could not do was control its wild and impulsive nature or its ability to feed on destruction, and thus fire has retained its formless, unpredictable shape and its ability to rapidly grow out of control as long as there is more that it has not yet destroyed. This is why especially passionate individuals are often described as being "fiery", referring to their insatiable and often emotionally-driven personalities.
While Malavach is, undoubtedly, generally viewed as wholly evil, he does in fact have some worshippers that are not necessarily evil themselves. It is not uncommon for Barbarians to have some respect for Malavach, as the embracing and utilization of one's rage is integral to a Barbarian. Ironically, some with an artistic leaning or lust for life may opt to worship Malavach, as in a way, he represents the idea of passion, and thus is viewed with less-critical eyes by those who are driven by their passions alone. These are rare, however, and in most civilized regions the worship of Malavach is either shunned or made criminal outright. After all, despite being able to imagine a positive spin to the God of Violence, he is, at his core, an entity of destruction and chaos, like the Demons he brought into existence.
