Val

Val is an elderly Imperial who runs the Fallen Anchor tavern in Broken Oar Grotto. She has known Captain Hargar Blackblood since he was a boy and has always kept an eye on him and his crew. She was a prominent pirate captain in her own right in her hayday but she has since retired due to old age, giving Hargar the idea to turn the old grotto into a pirate fortress. Now she runs her small corner of the grotto just as ferociously as she once ran her ship. She is a well respected figure by the Blackblood Marauders, who despite sparring wits with her, always understand that in her tavern, her word is law.   Quotes:

Blackblood Marauder: "I'd give up on the beard mate. Think old lady Val is growing a better one than that."
Val: "Less of the old talk! You're going about getting spit in your mead you keep on with that."
Blackblood Marauder: "Doubt there's enough moisture left in you for that old bird."
Val: "Ha! You know what. You're right, better just use the poison instead."
Blackblood Marauder: "..probably make the swill you serve taste better.."
Val: "What was that!?"
Blackblood Marauder: "Nothing Val. Sorry."
Val: "You blumin will be sorry soon."
She wears pirate captain's clothes, hat and boots, and is equipped with a rapier (1d8+1) and iron dagger. She carries Weak Poison, and a selection of common loot and gold.
