Uthore Fish-Bait
Uthore is a Breton fisherman who lives in Broken Oar Grotto, where runs his own stall providing fresh fish to and trading with the Blackblood Marauders. Though he was never a pirate himself, he has a good relationship with Captain Blackblood and with Val, he has lived in the Grotto for many years and is generally respected as the man who helps keep them all fed when plunder is not forthcoming. He was lost both his legs to slaughterfish but has a very upbeat attitude, he is generally friendly to strangers in the Grotto.
Quotes:
"So, newcomer to Grotto are ya? Just keep your wits about you while you're 'ere friend and you'll be just fine most likely. Any fish while y'are shopping about? Fresh caught this mornin'."
"Don't mind the sour faces on these pirates. Most of 'em's all bark no bite 'an some of 'em's real good folk once you get to know 'em. Like the Captain! Soft as a horker pup once he knows you. Don't ya tell 'im I told you so mind."
"I know the Captain likes to give 'em strays a fair chance, but that Valpin fellow unnerves me something fierce. It's the man's face, or maybe his eyes. Seen that same look on many a beastie that thinks I'm it's dinner."
"Oh me legs? That's quite a tale. Fought off a kraken single handed I did. Ha! No tellin' the truth, was slaughterfish that done it. I was fishin' on the jetty and got careless, let my self drift off with my legs dangling. Next thing I know, I wake up with two of 'em where me legs should be!"
"Me 'an me brother, Val, old Torben, the Captain. We're about all who's left that remember the old days. Grotto's seen a lot of faces come and go over the years, but there I go remembering when you probably be wantin' to buy some fish and move on."
"They say there's no honour among thieves but Captain Blackblood's got more honour in 'is big toe than most of the landed gentry living in the cities. See, he sees the best in folk and once you're known to him. He'll always do you right. Cause those are the old ways, that's how you build something. 'An that's something a lot of these new folk don't seem to understand."
