Hamish the Hermit
Hamish is a Breton monk who wanders the wilderness of Skyrim, communing with it's natural wonders and generally avoiding all civilisation. He is absolutely mad after a lifetime in isolation but generally friendly to strangers, if very off-putting. His only alliegence is to Skyrim's nature and wild places, seeing himself as a guardian of the balance of nature, caring nothing for worldly affairs or the troubles of Skyrim's various crises. He has a pungant odor and seems to subsist off berries and insects.
Quotes:
"So! Another wanderer crosses my path, but are you here to do harm or help? That remains to be seen. One's true nature, always reveals itself in due time. Ooh a berry!"
"Look around you friend. Isn't it wonderous? Natures bounty all around us, providing all we could ever need. Yet people often ignore what is in front of them. Going off chasing what's beyond. Until they have it, then off they go again! Madness if you ask me, and I know a thing or two about madness."
"Natures a funny old thing. Some look to Kyne, to her peaceful embrace. Others, Hircine, the thrill and violence of the hunt. Others still, to Pyrite, the cruel beauty of decay. Yet all are truely nature. All part of the same whole."
"Most envy the gods, especially those that have power in their eternity. Yet it is us the gods envy, because we; none of us, even the Mer, are around all that long. We envy their eternity while they envy our fragility. Because without end, how can there be meaning? This is why I crawl in mud and eat bugs!"
"When I walk through towns and villiages. They pity me, or revile me. They throw me coins! But what need have I of coins? All I need is around me. I pity them their pity."
"You know I haven't taken a bath in twelve years. Not since those very rude villagers caught me and forced me to take one. Good thing I'm much faster now. They won't catch me so easily again!"
"Other's think the end of want is to get so much they want for nothing. Where I want for nothing because that's exactly what I have! Tell me which of us is the more mad?"
