Zheford Calourous Worm
The Zheford Calourous Worm is a now extinct species of Wood Worm, that inhabited the south of Amridge and the north of Miennach until the 1200s. It lived on the Callour tree, seemingly made out of its wood and being able to hide itself within the wood of the tree. The trees went extinct in this area however, due to excessive foresting, and with it the worm.
Basic Information
Anatomy
It was about 12 cm long and had a red-brown colouring, like the bark of the Callour tree. It could move into the tree and hide there from predators or find prey. They cannot spend prolonged time in trees, as it would exhaust them and in the worst case, encase them in the tree and turn them into wood. This happened very rarely and it is even rarer that it is discovered in time to be visible, before the tree is chopped up. One specimen that is perfectly cut in half is displayed in the Syollan Nature Museum in Syoll's Heart.
An average specimen has about 43 pairs of legs.
Dietary Needs and Habits
The worm mainly ate smaller types of insects, sometimes also mammal or bird cadavers.
