Valreina, the Goddess of Freedom and Guardians

The Shield Maiden, The Celestial Wall, The Silver Gauntlet

The goddess of freedom and guardians is often portrayed as a cocoa skinned, battle-hardened maiden with glowing silver-hued eyes and vibrant violet irises. Her muscular, statuesque frame is toned and riddled with scars she has won from protecting the weak. The maiden's almost raven black flowing hair falls to her mid-back but is prone to changing styles and lengths. Valreina's attire changes depending on the lore in question but is usually adorned in the region's ceremonial armor but is always cloaked in a dark purple stained robes that is embroidered with ebony and ivory scripture of great battles of the past. Valreina is a protector first and a warrior second. She values those with pure and courageous hearts and is said to grant strength to those who pledge their good deeds to her name. Valreina recognizes two things: that the world's inhabitants cannot all live in peace and heroes must persevere against evil. Many female adventurers idolize Valreina and will engrave their weapons and tools with her scriptures. Some mothers even engrave their pots and pans with scriptures and prayers to the goddess to bless the food that will nourish their children to become guardians of their communities.    During the end of the Second Age, temples began to populate depicting a mighty flowing wall of light risen from a morning sunrise. This wall of light was shown to push away darkness and monsters that roam in it. Scholars believe these temples was the precursor to the goddess before humanoids gave her presence a physically form.    Valreina detests Oduroth, the God of Balance and Control . The two gods are said to have an openly hostile relationship with one another. Followers of Valreina are encouraged to hunt down Oduroth's influencers while followers of Oduroth love nothing more than coaxing a guardian to submit to their god's ideals.

Tenets of Faith

  1. All are born free of shackles and control their path
  2. Defend those who cannot defend themselves for the good of the realm
  3. The bloodshed of oneself will guide the spark of faith in many. Stand true to heroic morals
“I've seen of enough of comrades who died for their ideas. I don't believe in any sense of heroism or glory these days; I know it's easy and I've learned it can be murderous. What interests me the most is living and dying for what one loves and damned it do I love cracking this shield into a brigand's skull. Praise be to Valreina!”   -Genia Brightward, oath of devotion paladin
