Serribust, the Goddess of Life and Death
The Shepherd's Daughter, The Peaceful Guide, Lady of the Dirge
When someone has passed on and has left their physical body, it is said that a child dressed in vestments of the dead holding a lantern will guide the spirit to the underworld. To travel with one of these children put the spirit at ease and washes away all earthly desires. By the time the spirit is led to Asphodal's Gates , all residue from their previous life has been scrubbed clean and the spirit can move on without regret, entering the gates and into the cycle of reincarnation or to the station of their worshiped god.
Serribust is neither evil nor good, simply a god that seeks to retain the balance of life and death. To her, the job of ushering the newly deceased to their resting place is a thankless job but one that must be done to keep the natural cycle going. Very rarely will this goddess appear to interact with mere spirits as she will allow her children to complete most of her mundane work. The goddess is depicted wearing a off-white funeral gown that is completed with a hood that is always pulled over her head to hide her appearance. Strands of silvery, white hair drape over any resemblance of a face and her pale, plain lips are always smiling with the burden of the station she carries. Her exposed skin retains an unearthly starlight glow and her grip hangs loose on her shepherd's crook. The brass pole is complete with a gently swinging lantern that can burn through any magical fog to light the way. The lady's bare feet appear fragile and delicate, never touching the surface as she strides forward.
Those who have abused the balance of life and death with find the goddess is not as fragile as she appears. While she ultimately guides the spirits of the dead to their resting place, those who have abused this balance such as necromancers will find themselves in limbo, never finding peace and wandering the world to suffer from their past life's residue. Even if the spirit is "killed", this will not put it to rest as it is ultimately up to the goddess to release them of their suffering.
Followers of Serribust carry the belief that life and death should be celebrated equally and both should be treated with respect. It is not uncommon for a follower to pray over a fallen foe. When one passes away and is buried, a lantern is lit at their grave site or the place of their death to better guide the spirit to its final resting place. A drink of rum is the choice of the dead and many followers will carry a small canteen of this liquor. This is not to be drank. Performing a proper ritual over the liquid blesses the alcohol and is to be poured at the site of the dead or be fed to the corpse so that the lingering spirit has warmth of the soul for their journey to the gates.
Attire of the priesthood to Serribust wear gray shades of clothing and carry lanterns that have special crafted candles and scented oils that burn with shades of pale purple fires. Funeral veil hats or gray hoods are used by traveling priests of the order during missions involving putting the dead to rest to let others know of their divine quest. Most will leave these priests to their task as it benefits all for restless spirits to be lulled to the gates.

Divine Symbols & Sigils
A common symbol that is used to denote worship to the goddess is some sort of shepherd's crook with a hanging lantern or large bell. The material of the crook matters little to the wielder but is only meant to guide and never to be used to strike at the living. Dressings of the dead and tokens of fallen loved ones adorn various articles of clothing such as hoods or belts. Small dolls that have been fashioned to resemble a lost loved one that carry an article belonging to that person are also used in rituals dedicated to the goddess. These tokens are said to coax lingering memories and allow the owner to relive the loved ones fondest memories.
