Ignem, the God of Flame and Creation

The Lion Faced Father, The Obsidian Hammer, The Eternal Flame

Ignem's anvil of creation glows brightly with reminiscence of his work. When the earth erupts with violent blasts of fire and magma, precious metals are expelled from Coraxumn's body and Ignem's followers reap the benefits. The lion faced deity is the god of all matters of crafting and forging. Depicted as a tall, muscular being burning with a nimbus of heat off of his bronzed body, the god has a thick coat of bristly fur that adorns his exposed shoulders and chest but never burns and only glows with an incandescent glow. Cinders of heat rise off of his mane and the god's breath exhumes puffs of constant pipe smoke that smells of sweet and spicy smelling cinders. A singular, thick metal gauntlet makes up the majority of its right arm and is said to be composed completely of stardust. Even though the god's stature and large hands would suggest him more of a warrior, in truth his dexterous touch and intricate eye for every detail of crafting makes him a master of technology that has yet to be grasped in this realm.   Ignem is renowned by smiths, craftmasons, and glassblowers. Many dwarven tales will tell of successful meditative trances where they are inspired by Ignem to create wonderous magical or masterwork items. Gnome culture notes that Ignem is also one who takes kindly to the creation of clockwork devices and items that require a delicate hand.  When an item is beyond repair, when a body becomes frail and no longer holds life, or when a sword breaks in twain, devotees to Ignem know that fire gave birth and fire should consume all.     Despite being a crafter and smith, when it comes to creating a vassal or messenger to speak through, it is said that Ignem prefers mere mortals as the foundation of clay to work from. Individuals with extreme devotion to the god may find themselves guided by a vassal whose embers wain. Kindling the new flame normally involved tasks which slowly sheds the mortal body and cultivates their new form. When the final task is complete, the mortal will die and erupt in flame and take their place as one of his court.
