Alderman Conrad
Alderman Conrad was once a respectable scholar and historian in the Principality of Asheria. A senior to his students and a subject matter expect to his peers, Conrad excelled in pairing historic lore with myths and wise tales, sorting out the truth in the legends and finding reasonable theories on what the links may be. Seen as a sort of priest of knowledge, Conrad rejects this title. While he might be the most knowledgeable person and leadership has now fallen on him, he much rather the people of the hamlet be more self-sufficient and leave him to his former studies. This does not mean the alderman is unfriendly or brackish. Indeed, the scholar is easy enough to approach and friendly to his fellow countrymen but is not an open book. Instead, the alderman encourages the people to seek knowledge for themselves instead of just handing out answers, instilling a thirst for learning this way and hard work. While Conrad holds the old ways to his heart, open practice of magic is discouraged in the hamlet. The settlement is far enough away from civilization but many of the people still carry fear that the dominion will arrive and find them from some sort of magic use. Most of these fears are unfounded but to put the mind of the community at ease, the alderman keeps open practices of magic to a minimum and encourages doing so behind closed doors.
important
The elder still wears his traditional robes and fur collar that he did so at the university. The badges of his station are meaningless and he keeps them only to remind himself of what he once was. Normally seen with a carved and polished walking stick, the loremaster has a buckled latch that holds a thick leather tome of various topics and research at his side, complete with a string holding a simple scribing charcoal stick. While Conrad uses simplistic crystal lens reading glasses, he only requires them on small and fine print.

Mental characteristics
Personal history
Conrad grew up in a middle-class capacity, spurred on by his parents to seek out knowledge and spread it to others. In his teen years, Conrad developed an interest in more obscure and fantasy tales and linking the truth to the legends. As he aged, the principality sponsored his pursuits and supplied him with a small stipend. The success of his pursuits soon took a negative turn for him as he was put in a teaching role when his passions were to pursue knowledge. During the fall of Asheria, Conrad lost his wife during a firebombing of his university and fled with a few peers that soon fell to soldier's swords. Escaping through toe sewer systems where he met a plucky kobold he named Kudu that assisted, Conrad soon met up with escapees and fled to the northwest with a mixture of boat and road travel before the main highways would be locked down.
Education
Working at several smaller universities in his lifetime, Conrad has collected a vast body of knowledge. Heated debates and research with his peers have honed his mind towards various key topics. Particular focuses of his work revolve around the anatomy of unique beasts/monsters, historic events of the peninsula, and geographical sites of interest. With not a lot of travel under his belt, most of his knowledge is based on second-hand sources and verifying it through other means.
Mental Trauma
The alderman suffers from a strong fear of the undead from past in-depth research of their capabilities as well as observation of the type of injuries they can inflict. While research can yield results and even more questions, the dead-end and limited understanding of the undead nature and what causes this frustrates Conrad. Without knowledge, fear can take root and the effects of Glith's Scar have only compounded this for him.

Alderman Conrad is proficient within Calligrapher Supplies and is considered a savant in intellectual pursuits.
Social
Speech
Conrad finds himself in thought at times and this is more apparent by his voice mannerisms. The professor will always pause before reciting lore and recalling detailed information, clicking his tongue in thought when he does so in between his spaces.
